You know my biggest issue with modders is that their isn't that many people that really play them if you know what i mean. That is the problem, many people want to play in populated servers and is why unranked normal game play are still around. Its all comes down to population of servers.

There unpopulated because no one wants to give up there precious rank, so they just don't bother playing them....

Oh you are so right as well, i don't care about the entire rank thing to be honest though how come the modders cant make or host their own type of ranking system? Wasn't this something that which was looked into at one time?

Sure some mods have custom ranking, but its nothing like the BF2 ranking...its just not that moddable IIRC....

Players would also need to start ALL over in there rank...most dont think its worth it....

Damn, i mean i play the game regularly and love it. But i also love getting those points to rank up. When i first started i never thought i would ever make to where i am now. (A Captain, whose points are not increasing for reasons i don't know why). I like where i am and i would like to improve on that, so why the hell would they discontinue the stat/ranking system. It's so much fun. The day they absolutely stop ranking, will be the day when i stop playing online games. And i'm sure i'm not the only one in this already water filled boat.

I think it will be new patch with Highway Tampa included and/or new game mode.

Yeah i hope that patch comes out and fixes this stats problem. I like playing on unranked servers but, theres too much goofing off and lollygagging *(lol)*
but ti is true, i just want to get back into the competitve atmosphere that makes BF2 so great.

i couldn't agree more. rank was pretty much the death to the battlefield series and mods witch in itself is pretty sad. i mean most of the current dice employees all got their starts in mods and then they slammed the door on anyone behind them with rank, i mean these guys knew what it would do but clearly their voices weren't loud enough or noone cared.

its so sad because i see top notch mods going unplayed and the only good reason is rank. if these mods were ranked, even their own separate ranking system (witch wouldn't be that hard for ea to do) they would have thousands of players and probably surpass vanilla player count but thats their curse.

i think the only hold from ea for ranking them is the worry about losing ranked server players, ranked servers are the nervous system of bf2 and the few can sway the many. theres a reason they aren't ranking mods and if anyone remembers the dice crew had said they would seriously consider a mod ranking system right before the bf2 release, during the time of the demo and we haven't heard a peep from them since.

it seriously is dishearting for any long time battlefield player because they remeber the outstanding mods that got full support from ea and dice 5 years ago and now to even mention mod support is like taboo.

the mod spotlight would be the greatest helping hand these teams could get and ea promised it to them along time ago and i think when they finally gave it to the opk team and saw almost 1000 people jump over to opk the first day they got scared and were worried about losing ranked server players so they sh!t canned the whole idea of the spotlight.

until they give back the mod spotlight to the mod developers and stop whoring 2142 (its never going to surpass bf2 player count, it was cursed from the beginning and they need to accept that fact, no pop up window could ever fix that) and that tampa beta thats the story im going with because why else would they shaft these top notch mod teams on a simple promise like a popup window? they will put a beta map in that popup but not a top notch mod like poe2? why??????

I dont know why you guys think its a good idea to get rid of the ranking system! I meen yeh cheaters and stat padders were annoying. But have stats gave us something to aim for. You know to try and get the nice shiny badges and ribbons. Though im happy with my expert knife and sniper badge i would have liked to have got.

they will put a beta map in that popup but not a top notch mod like poe2? why??????

for one, the BETA is put up to advertise that something new is coming, and it needs for people to play so they can make adjustments based on feedback.

I personally really dont think it would make that many people look at the mod. the reason? once in game, they want to play. so when they click download now, and it says BF2 will close, they think "hell no!" because they cant be assed with running it again.

Also, for all of those people that don't visit any forums, it is highly unlikely that they actually know what a mod is. if they saw that it would change what they know and are customed to, and it isn't ranked, there is no chance in hell that they would prefer it.

The only time i will switch to a mod is when i feel that bog standard BF2 and its expansions will no longer give me any enjoyment. and i can honestly say that that will be never. simply because it offers such a wide experience. if i get bored with one kit i go to another, if i get bored of ground pounding, ill go to tanks, or maybe even one day learn how to fly that darn jet properly. also playing with your mates makes it even more interesting, as a squad or against them.

Yeah though you would have to wonder who is really getting the better end of the deal though all this advertising. Iam sorry one map, something in which others have said has been around for some time and isn't something new. Perhaps they should have given us more than just one and you mention that perhaps their is something else in the works. If that is the case then why know and not at least further back?

Nothing at all and none of the advertisers have gotten me to buy their products as a result of their ads either, so their scheme is a failure.

Has anoyne looked at an ad in 2142 and said "I'm buying that!"?
