Your loss. I can't wait till it releases. And NO DOUBT I will play whenever it does release. BF2 will have a good amount of players for a long time.

Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

Its funny how everyone is yelling hurry up and release it....yet I never see them playing any of the previous released mods(who Im sure the same people saying "hurry up and release it" pushed those devs for an early release....)

Do you people know why this mod looks so good, because they take there TIME and do things RIGHT. These guys do it for fun, the only real judge is themselves, if they dont like the way something looks or feels, they can spend months just to get it right, and rightly so. They owe nothing to any of you, and are NOT going to push out a release thats filled with bugs and imbalances just to grab the attention of a few gamers who cant wait....

and the old 2142 is stealing players argument is old and tired, at any given moment BF2 has more players then 2142, and wil remain so for a long time. 2142 failed, when compared to BF2, and is stealing no-one...

not a good arguement, zuiquan1. FH was released for BF1942 with almost no aircraft cockpits skinned, as well as numerous other WIPs, but the released because it had been over a year, and people wanted the mod and were losing interest. Did it flop?

I know what you mean. I want this mod to be released already if only so I can play with BF2 again.

Does FH2 team have an estimated release date, kind of like what the POE2 team did for the public by offering a nice and big tease of the final product.

Great looking mod so far guys, keep us enticed and thanks for providing the community with your hard work.

                PEACE

Err according to the devs that was one of their biggest mistakes, giving into the publics pleas for a release and giving them one, a buggy unfinished one at best. While some people did enjoy it, others were probably turned off by it and just waved it off as some hyped pos and dropped it from there.

I know takiwa you're part of the BG2 dev team, and as a dev, would you release something that you youself considered unfinished, just to stiffle the nagging voices to hurry up and release your mod? Would it really quite them, or would it only be a temporary solution? Some people are bound to notice the flaws and complain, so now instead of people complaining about a release date you now have them complaining about major bugs and general lack of polish. So which is better?

PoE2 did not release a tease, they released a solid steel polished mod, and that's exactly our goal, we just need more time because we did need to create almost everything from scratch, as WW2 themed mod.

We have not estimated release date because any estimated release date not anounced two weeks or so before the efective release day is to lie the fans and happy customers, no mod team (even professional developers) can calculate these things---->S.T.A.L.K.E.R, HL2, that duke forever thing, etc, etc, etc

We want the truth or compassive lies?, you choose

Eh, as already said; according to the DEV's that was a huge mistake.

Looks awsome guys! I'll be there with my wrench in a Sherman (or Panzer) gunning someone. You can count on that.

Patience is a virtue, young padawans. Remember the words of wise Yoda:

"Puppies impatience kills! yes! control your urges you must! coffe you bring to me now, *****."

                                A quote from David Johnston:

Mods could definitely learn a lot from the 'release early, release often' paradigm... it works for software, it worked for CS, it worked for DoD.

Some mods only get a new release when there are considerable changes from the previous version. That's bad - it means everyone has to adjust, and features and bugs start bouncing all over the place because of all the changes. Gradual, frequent change suits mod development much better.
I think this is a good point. I think PoE had a better release objective on the BFV engine, the first release was modest, yet solid, a few tanks, a few jets, a few APCs, a full compliment of handweapons and a few maps. Then a frequent release schedule after that. Not mammoth releases 8 to 12 months apart.

[edit] Why dont URL's stand out in the text? Thats poor formatting, surely? 'David Johnston' above is a hyperlink, but youd never know it...
