I got the chance to talk to the lead level designer at DiCE a couple months ago. He told me that maps like Sharqi and Karkand took about three months to make with a couple people working on them.

That is with discussing the objectives, layout, rough sketches, building. That did not include rendering of new textures or testing as I recall. Now consider the cost of paying someone that does those kinds of things. It could cost DiCE $80,000 just to make one map when you take in the manhours, equipment and resources involved.

There was a great suggestion back in the feedback, which Colin was apart of, that talked about just making community made maps ranked. It would save them money and continue the revenue of ranked servers.

Keep that in mind though about costs when it comes to a couple new maps.

Didn't Modlight make a huge impact on OPK? Remember there was a huge increase in players playing. If i'm not mistaken. So this will probably bring alot of players to Battleracer now....probably...

well yes to make a map from scratch, with all new statics of that quality it wouldn't suprize me one bit it took that long. OGT took me 5 months to make on my own, with alot of real life stuff and not working on it every day, i took afew weeks off etc and I didn't make all the statics but i had to plan for most. But when you consider they have a huge amount of statics there already, it wouldnt take them long to make a map. A open map with hardly any statics and just terrain doesn't take long atall aswell
