    mmmmmmmmmmm what a concept.

EA should have just stuck to console sport games. I will not support them in the realm of PC gaming any longer and I hope I'm not alone, they deserve to fail.

It's been fun. Hopefully a very good dev team will make a game just like BF2 but without all the lame parts like bugs and bad imbalance.

No DICE deserved to fail. They where the reason the game still isn't fixxed. Bussiness is bussiness. Not a great move by EA but not a bad one. Consider, EA has what was it? 61,000 employees.... Well DICE(or its leadership) Now belongs to EA. Think of 1,500 testers vs. 150 testers. Lets put it this way. They won't need to release a beta patch anymore and look foolish. They should be able to fix it on thier own. If anything BF2 (I hope) will be surely fixed. Cause its now EA's name on the line instead of DICE which was a smaller company and had less resource's.

Sadly EA does not care if there products are quality or not. I used to be a console only gamer, and one thing I learned from that whole time was that EA would shovel out what ever they felt could get a few bucks from the consumer public. Thier sports games had an unfailing level of pure bugginess. Albeit they had little compition in that market. I also know from paying for many a game with the EA monicer on it that it would be more or less untested and poorly exicuted, this is with few exceptions. Medal of Honor series being one of those rare ones. In fact I have fewer complaints with the Battlefield series than that of the console games. At least there is such a thing as patches. I got really tired of dropping some good money on unpolished and unplayable "games".

Why would they care? Millions will buy, thousands will complain, zero will accomplish anything.

Rewind to a couple years ago.....

EA "So is it done yet?"

DICE "Only a few months now"

EA "Yeeeeah, you can just go ahead and release next week, who will know"

Great news, DICE really deserved this.

EA will give DICE the years upon years upon years of expertice in organizing their projects and properly testing them. Don't forget about the massive amounts of excellent stable games that EA has published or helped produce.

The barrier between publisher and developer that existed prior to the completion of this aquisition most certaintly contributed to patch problems we all suffered through (or so I speculate). Picture having to go through 4 lengthy approval processes only to find a pesky little bug that hid itself until the very end, forcing you to go through the whole approval process once more.

In the end, all mainstream games will be focused on appealing to the casual gamer, which is something many are afraid of. I assume that EA will help push the future BF franchise into the mainstream by making the game a little easier at certain corners and a little more rock/paper/scissors than before, which isn't a bad thing, as long as they give us a stable game engine that can be modded by our fine community.

One day, EA will get f*cked for becoming a monopoly, just like Bill Gates did with Microsoft.

                      Only joking of course....maybe...kinda

I recall some of the quailty products EA made for the Commodore 64 System and other games that ran well.

BF2 created alot of memories good and bad. But for me Im still resting at home after a year long trip with a nasuea inducing problematic game that still does not run well.

I think this might well be the end of DICE as I know it. EA will impose thier culture of work work and work faster while bean counting the next release into retail and not allow future games to be built to outstanding quality of yesterday year.

If BF2 ever gets fixed properly and another modern day war game gets released I will be first in line with money in hand.

But not until then. BF2 has been a lesson in the current trend of profitmaking and Borg Like acquistion of companies.

If this trend keeps up would it encourage coders and developers to bang out a game that sells to thousands making enough of a impact with it's private branding and people exposure to cause EA to salviate and buy them out regardless of the final product quality.

                        I sincerely hope not.

Man, I have and had a lot of friends/co-works that in someway worked for gaming companies that got bought out by EA...and every single one of them will not paint a rosey picture about it a year or two after the deal was completed. I hate to be negative about this, but man, I really do fell for DiCE.
