Re: Looking Back on Battlefield 2

A lot of unfair bullsh!t from ignorant people towards DICE, as usual.

The most common "they added things noone asked for" makes me laugh. Vehicle drop was ALREADY in the game. Hint one, empty space below supply drop, obvious hint two, it was mentioned in different articles, obvious hint 3, information regarging it was in the files. Simply checking the localization files will make your eyes bleed in awe, because of all the non-added, but planned content. Its simply unbelievable how much stuff there is really in BF2 that didnt really make it (probably because DICE guys are actually smart enough to see that an average BF2 player is a dumb idiot).

The reason the game is what it is right now, is because of whiners who cant accept their loss in stats. Second reason is DICEs lack of testing of course.

Bacially, people ***** just about anything. I swear if DICE would give in just a little more, BF2 would be a platform game where people jump around collecting gold coins and mushrooms to grow bigger.

It makes me laugh after seeing these nice pre release ingame videos with civil cars and a laser designator and big previews with map-overviews showing flag-nubering of the maps in the gememode "Supplylines" and now seeing some crap done like coop or infantry only... Sorry but thats also my opinion.

I have logged in to TotalBF2 so many times with the intent to flame the crap out of some these ridiculous threads, only to have a "level-head" prevail, and not post at all. Not this Time! Are you guys serious? What on earth makes you think that EA/Dice owes "us" anything? I absolutely can NOT believe that there are a select group of people who suck at this game and have succesfully managed to have it "changed" (nerfed) over 4 times now? Its not the "dolphin-diving", its not the "gp-30 noob", it isn't the J-10/F-35 balance, its not bunny-hopping, nor are any of the other countless "issues" the reason that you "select" few keep getting owned to a point of desperation. Know what it is? YOU SUCK!! Get over it! I personally loved this game the day I bought it, it was Great!! Sadly though, you have had your way, time and time again, and guess what? STILL NOT HAPPY!! Give it a freaking rest already! What should the next patch be? All your enemies spawn in a cage un-armed? You would probably still find a way to get pwned! It is absolutely astonishing to me that EA/Dice has made any/every effort to "please" this select group of individuals and still has been met with nothing but disrespect and insult. Make me Puke!! Just where did the whole "I bought something from you, now I dont like it, but I don't want to return it, I want you to make into something else all together that in no way resembles the original product I bought" mentality come from? Who does that? NO ONE!! If you don't like it, don't play it!! You see, there are alot of us who don't spend our time here at TotalBF2 flaming Dice, you know what we are doing instead? Playing BF2!! A game we happen to like, or "liked" anyways! This game is quickly becoming a worthless, noob-serving, P.O.S.! (not to be confused with P.O.E. which is a great mod!) All in all, at the end of the day, its just pathetic! I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank-you to EA/Dice for making what I consider to be the best FPS to date! Nice Game Fellas!! A few bugs and glitches here and there, but thats the nature of the beast now isn't it. Does anyone else remember? Does anyone remember the BF2 you played in the demo? The BF2 that you went and spent 50 bucks at Best Buy for? The BF2 that EA and Dice wanted to give us? Well for those of you who don't, it was a really fun game!! Damn Shame Really, Damn Shame! Well, I'm glad thats over. Sorry, thats just been a long time coming for me...Oh yeah, 2142, I will probably check it out. I must say though, I am much more fond of "conventional" weaponry. I have never really been a big fan of the whole "fairies and unicorns" nor "lasers and lava-pits" thing. I prefer bombs and bullets as a means of disposal!! Have Fun!! C-Ya!

I agree with you to a certain extent. Balancing issues...should of been the last thing Dice touched. For the most part BF2 is one of the best games I've ever played in my 30 year experience. Bugs, like you say is the nature of the beast, it is one thing trying to fix a bug, but when the game has issues like CTD's, functions like "play now" or the Browser don't work, etc...people feel dupped into buying a game and have the right to be frustrated.

My main issue has been they shipped a game that was unplayable for many, only to patch it and to have it unplayable for more, only to patch it to fix the issues but created more issues...ad nauseum.

Remember the screenies prior to releasing BF2? Do you? they look nothing like the game? The game promised, co-op mode, single player and Supply lines? It's only recently I've seen Co-op...

Anyway...all in all...I definately got my money's worth out of BF2. Take your 50 bucks or in my case 130 (second copy plus Special forces) and divide it by the amount of hours you've played minus (suicides*15 seconds) and you'll see you didn't pay much per hour.

I absolutely agree Mr Adhd! I thought I made mention of the legitimate bug complaints and isuues such as red/blue, CTD, etc...Sorry for omitting that point. However, I think that you misinterpreted my post. I am not finding any fault with the game, or in any way implying that I "didn't get my moneys worth". I was just making note of how ridiculous I think it is that some people think that a tweak here, or a nerf there, will make them better at the game, or for that matter, make the game better. What about everyone who isn't here at TotalBF2 flaming? The people who like the game they bought? The people who, as we speak, are shooting a J10 down with a F35, or even a (AH-1Z) t.v. missle? See they didn't come here to find a solution to a challenge in the game, they went into a server and practiced!! They adapted and overcame!! I have over 1000hrs in BF2 and I really like this game. All I am trying to say is the best way to balance the J10/F35 is...GO PRACTICE IN THE F35! The best way to stop a Bunny-Hopper...LEARN TO SHOOT A MOVING TARGET! FTLOG! Semper-Fi or Die!!

After almost 600h of BF2 I know which of the reported bugs occured on my system and which did not. I think everybody can tell after a while. There are some bugs that appear really annoying to me. If I see one of those bugs in the bf2142 demo I will not buy the retail.
If DICE/EA made their homework the bugs are gone. If not I will say goodbye.
              Simple as it is.

BF2 had to be dumbed down. Your average player is a nadespamming monkey at Karkand. I think laser designators and tools as such would have been a "WOW!" worthy, and then ignored, or not used.

Plenty of things in BF2 even now sitting unused.

Laser could have stayed in as an option for players. Same with fast rope... civilian cars... supply line... etc.

LOL. There wont be another BF2 patch. BF2142 is out in 12 days.

The last 1.4 patch they put a lot more effort into making sure it was bug free, which is why they let it publicly be tested. It is also why we got a free map with it. Thats all because they knew it would be the last patch for BF2.

BFV's last patch got a load of free stuff as well, same with BF1942's final patch.

Trust me, there wont be another BF2 patch.

battlefield is dead. EA killed it. 2142 sucks.. Played it.

Look back on a nearly complete BF2, or the future of BF2142 with 18 months of pay-to-playtest?

The decision is easy for me: with the great mod teams behind FH2 and PoE rumbling on - stick with BF2 and enjoy some whole new games

Although I probably will buy 2142...eventually...
