Posted over on the Battlefield 2 Editor forums is an announcement by Colin Clarke ([DICE]CKMC) about a new program they will be starting in hopes to build a stronger relationship with all the mod teams. Here's what he had to say:
It's great to hear about this new program DICE is looking to create. Be sure to stay tuned as we will post the official announcement when it is released.
As part of an effort to build more support and recognition for the mod community we have put together the following event.
MODLight! The mod spotlight review where every Battlefield mod is reviewed and given its due respect. Here are the details:
1 - Each mod that has a release version out will be reviewed by EA, DICE, and the mod community.
2 - A review of the mod will be posted to the EA Official Website and Forums.
3 - Along with the review will be information for where clients can download the mod to play for themselves.
4 - Our excellent Game Service Providers world wide have come onboard to provide both file hosting for client downloads and game server hosting for the mod currently under review.
It is my sincere hope this will help build player populations for the mods and be the first step towards rebuilding a stronger relationship between DICE and our mod community.
Please keep in mind that this is not a competition. We will review every mod and each mod will have the same amount of time on servers. This is also an event of mutual respect so all review threads, which will be hosted on this forum, should remain positive even in criticism.
There will be an official announcement on the EA site next week, but I felt it appropriate to reach out to everyone here first.
