You betcha! We're not even halfway through yet. 35 clans have been chosen for free game servers so far, which leaves 64

    Spetsnaz,

I did not mean to ridicule you or your opinions my friend. I sometimes forget that I don't always have to bring my sharper blades to bear when challenged by another in such discussions. I apologize for any disrespect you may have felt I was offering as it was not so much disrespect as merely strong feelings about the subject matter and a tad too much bravado, expecting multiple posts disagreeing with me as it turned out, happened as documented above.

I never thought of the USSR as communist in nature, and I must bow to your own more personal history involving the political nature of the old empire. I do know that it was ruled by the politboro(all members of the communist party) and that the communist party was the only legal political party in the previous USSR. That would tend to make outsiders draw the conclusion that technically and in all aspects involving government, trade and defense as well as legal issues (both local and federal), the old USSR was a communist country.

No, I would never have assumed that the common man or the common soldier or sailor would shout the joys of communism. The very citizens of that late great union that never realized any benefits from any communist or socialist ideals would avoid calling themselves communist for obvious reasons, I agree.

Thanks for spending the time to answer my posts and regardless of how much we differ in opinion, I truly value your efforts and of course your right to your opinion my friend.

    Thanks again.
    Hugz 'n' kisses 'n' all :)

Wow. MYIS is really onto something great here. I entered my clan this morning, and regardless of whether or not we get selected, I'd like to thank MyIS for doing this for the community! It shows great moral fibre and I wish more places valued the community as much as you do. Good job MyIS.

w00t, Just wanted to post and say thanks to MyIS and all the great guys there, we just got selected for our server and they were kind enough to even make mention of the memorial fund for a member we recently lost to boating accident. The support the community has shown us, and his family is astounding. Thank you all again, and I can't wait to check out the server.

Dude, why do you care? If MYIS is generous enough to do this for 100 clans then we should all be grateful!

If all the members of your clan have the same attitude, then I would guess that is a good reason that no one is on your servers.

I know that the guys in my clan would love to receive a server to play on and we would utilize it!

this is a rule for sponsership from myis:

All sponsored clans servers must follow the EAROE to the letter.
Please take the time to read the EAROE for game servers fully.
If a clan is ever caught in violation of the EAROE the sponsorship will be terminated.
You can find more information about the EAROE at www.bfroe.com.

3.2.1 Players may not use or exploit game mechanisms to artificially boost their score ("stats padding") and Server administrators may not knowingly allow or encourage this activity on their servers.

    (h) Glitching inside buildings (using building model glitches to attack out without risk of being hit).

not one thing has been said about the glithing warchild clanmember and the sponsership they are recieving from this site!

Why, yes I know very well actually :) A few points for the uninformed (you in this case) regarding your statement:

The Soviet Union never was and never will be a communist state. It was once a socialist government, but not never a communist one. Mind you the basis had communist roots, however the Spetsnaz elite had very little to do with this - they were not public enforcers like the KGB were. Moreover, no one even heard of the Spetsnaz prior to the 90s revolution. There were some books published, but it was mostly bs because with the strict government control back then there was little use for wide spread "elite" units.

There was a revolution in the early 90s that led a whole new system of government to be put into place at which point the Spetsnaz began to operate publicly as FSB, MVD, GRU and even some remnants joined ALFA. Prior to this, their existence was but a mere rumor.

In today's world, the Spetsnaz sit alongside the Navy SEALs as the toughest trained, most elite units in the world. Additionally, the name is now used a common term for elite units the RU, ie: "Spetz Forces/Units" would be equivalent to "Special Forces". The word itself is just a combination of the beginnings of two long words: "Spetsalnovo Naznacheniya"... which also pretty much translates to "Special Forces".

Thus, Spetsnaz is simply a connection of multiple specialized units in different levels of government (Ministry of Interior, Anti-Terrorism, Army, Military Intelligence, etc). They are dubbed "Spetsnaz" to give them one name over all... sort of like a badge of honor. It's also why there are so many Spetsnaz badges - as it doesn't describe one particular unit but the characteristics of the unit itself.

Spetsnaz units have no personal affiliation with government affairs, they are simply the units that get the job done (much like the Rangers, SEALs, etc here in the United States).

Just the fact that you raised a connection between Communism and the Spetsnaz only shows how little you know about Russian history & culture.

Opinion != Fact. I've playing PC games for 10 years now - it only mixed with my professional life a few years ago. Since then I was in 3 clans for years at a time: Omega6, =BHC= (Bravery Honor Courage), [syn] (The Syndicate).

I really don't know what makes you think you're right. This is all based on opinion and how you feel about things. Trying to make what I say sound silly or pathetic (which you are obviously trying to do) is rigged to backfire because some people think that posting on gaming forums is silly... right? They think PC gaming and forums are for nerds and rejects who don't know how to dress well. The truth is quite the contrary ... many of us attractive girlfriends, Armani shirts and plenty of time on our hands :-D

What I'm trying to say is, try to have an open mind bro. Saying we're out of the loop is a strange assumption, seeing as we live and breathe this industry. And "calling the shots from behind the spawn screen" ... well I have no idea what that means! hehe.

Any decent clan will tell you that a game server isn't just a thing to fill up, it's about stance, image, and a place to call home. Even if it's full for only 1 hour in the day, sometimes it's nice to feel like your clan has something of its own. It gives that warm feeling because it's your little corner in the gaming community.

    Melodramatic? Perhaps. True? Unquestionably so.
I rest my case with my assertion that the guy or guys giving managng this great idea to may be out of the loop and callling in the plays from behind the spawn screen.

Your use of communist manifesto joke seems odd from a man using Spetsnaz as his nick. Is there a hidden camera in here? I didnt get it, i guess...........You do know what "Spetsnaz" means dont you bro?

i have been playinng with GC since the earliest days of BF 1942 and now admin the kind of resources we are talking about here, I still hold legacy memberships in two world class clans and between my admin and moderator posiitions at GC and several Euro sites as well, I have a very large familly of brothers and sisters i play and work with almost daily.

I have very little experience with anyone ever thinking of a battleserver as a home for the clan though. I think I would have picked up on that by now if that was a popular fantasy out there. But to be honest, most of my groups won't recruit the younger guys because of maturity, reliabiliity we need and how hard it can be to get the yoiunger ones to invest in the team as they grow through their Rambo years.

I grant you, clans of that age group are very likely to feel like they are home on a battleserver. So, I can't comment on what they feel about a leased box from IS, you might be right my friend.

I know tha most clans I have had battle time with or against gave their identies to the forums and website barracks that were up and running before they even knew they might need their own server some day. If you wanted to get to know a clan for whatever reason you might have, you would spend your days in their barracks, not their servers.
The barracks are where they spent tme carousing, smak talking, and inventing lame stories about their temporary loss of of hand eye coordination in the finals Cali match and letting his comrades down was not his fault , jusk the luck of a soldier or maybe that crappy mouse he used. lol.

Tha History of a Clan's battles together, It's chosen Icons and Banners it uses for its flag, the rank avatars, personal signatures, Awards, news, training, support and their biggest chance to be known as an individual contributing to the team around him . The member's picture is there, his service record as well, they all know his music, taste in girls, and the list goes on and on.

Eventually he will grow away from our game, off to marrry or have kids, maybe join the real army or marines, and still a very complete virtual image of that player will be stored at that barracks site. At least the image that was him when he had time for games and he would tell you that the barracks site was his home away from home, not a battleserver.

Servers are wonderful inventions but still merely rented machinery we all need to play on. [b]Don't insult BF2 clans worldwide by making a romantic connection between clan family and that temporary gameserver someone rented them last month.[b/]

That's sarcasm for sure but you did it so well, i almost felt sorry for you Spetsnaz. I was gonna send you a blanket and a bag of food in case the world gets any colder tonight.

Maybe we can get em to put a Safeway across the street from "Our little corner in the gaming community".

Does your landlord allow you to use hotplates at that address or should I send stuff you dont have to have warmed up.

i just thought of something radical in concept but very related to how different we both see this issuie Spetsnaz. You are not using these forums for your barracks are you? I could see how you might get desperate enuf to call someone else's hardware your cyber home.

This place would be hard to call home for some reason. Maybe its the paint, and the manager won't let customers use the latrine I heard, even if you buy something. lol. Having said that, if you get the need to use the loooooo, we are on the links list and I usually have an banner in my posts.

You are welcome to use ours, we'll leave a light on for ya

Respects to you and yours Spetsnaz.............Winter Lion
