I'd play infantry only. Yeah, i actually do like CS, but beleive it or not, the huge maps, different weapons, and different goals mean infantry only BF2 wouldn't be just like it. Infantry combat does not automatically mean CS.

I will admit, though, that this effort probably should have gone into more classic gamemodes like CTF or, heaven forbid, fixing some of the outstanding bugs like the nametag bug.

Infantry only? thats an option I dont like this is a Multiplayer game where every player must choose a class if there are tanks someone has to be an anti tank soldier and so on....., new maps I like.

And your point is what? You can't have an infantry mode in multiplayer? I repect the opinion....just trying to understand some of the reasons for knocking it. So far, all I've seen CS noob flames and you don't like vehicles so you must be a noob comments.

Pure infantry combat is a very multiplayer/team oriented style of play. I think more so because of the lack of support from artillery and armor. This get's back to basics and does take a level of skill to master. Spitting rounds hoping for a kill is much different than having to spot the target and plan the kill.

I'm not hating, I'm not trolling. I want you guys to succeed. I hope you guys are having fun making your mod. I want to play your mod, whenever you guys decide your ready to release. I want it to be fun. If your aiming to capture the feel of DC then I'd say you guys are on the right track.

If you can't see I want you to succeed from the post I left in the other thread regarding release early release often (along with other issues facing the mod community) your either lacking reading comprehension skills or suffer from a persecution complex. Thats merely my opinion on the mod scene in general, with a few BF2 related specifics. Rather than just dismiss me as a troll, why not respond intelligently about why you disagree?

My first post was "like a whole page of very detailed topics regarding mods". Is there a problem with that? This is a discussion board isn't it? We are here to discuss BF2 and BF2 mods, are we not? I'm not here to run up my post count, as if that makes someone's post worth reading. I lurked here at TBF2 for months. I finally found something that I wanted to take the time to register and post about, that being your mod. You should feel good that your work has motivated me enough to comment. However, you seen to assume the worst.

Finally, you accuse EA of taking from the mod community. I didn't disagree with you on that point. However, its obvious that your mod team is taking from the mod community as well. Again, your stated goal is to emulate an exisiting mod, I quoted it right off your guy's page. I didn't make a judgement about that being a good or bad thing, I merely pointed it out. The entire video game industry, commercial and mod scene alike borrow and steal from each other. Just don't think that your immune from criticism. Again, if you feel differently, rather than just dismiss me as a troll, why not respond intelligently about why you disagree.

Well not hijack any further, but there is a difference to me between EA stealing ideas, and a group of fans of DC spending 7 days a week trying to give something like that back to our friends, for free.

We take a lot of random shots across the nose, more than any other mod. It comes with the territory I guess. so we might get too defensive sometimes, like battered wife syndrome, lol.

Not that its a funny topic, but you know what I mean bro.

I do hope we get an infantry only map out of this. Better yet, how about more buildings we could actually get inside of, and play some DC style rounds.

P.S. Fix the squads while your at it, I miss pre 1.3 where you could maybe come back from a devastating loss, with one talented squad using thier heads and playing together.

I think it would be a good move for DICE to give us a new map and some additional content, we deserve it for sticking with them through all these crappy patches they've been giving us. If the 1.31 patch can actually fix everything they managed to screw up, and give us a new map, they could get a lot more BF2142 sales, but on the flip side, if it still sucks, and continues to make BF2 unplayable for so many players, then they'll loose alot.

Also, the bf2_infantryonly would be useful for clan scrims or matches, when you have like 5 vs 5 no vehicles. It would probably not be allowed on ranked servers, as that is restricting gameplay, and may be against ROE.

On the Jihad two server, they have demos running and you can goto the link. They are tiny files, but I downloaded them, and tried to import them into bf2 but it didn't work, as they didn't show up in game. But one interesting thing to note, one of them is .bf2142demo and not .bf2demo

what i would like to see, is an armor only, or aircrafts only game-modes...

Buy Armored Fury then, it's focus is 80% armor and 20% aircraft.

All you have to do is look at the popularity of city maps only servers and 24/7 SaK to realize how popular infantry fighting is, I hate Counter Strike but really love the soldier combat in BF2, I don’t even bother with maps like Wake Island because of the Artillery/Planes/Attack Choppers.

There’s no hard-set rule that BF2 has to be about vehicles, if they made an infantry focused booster pack I’d buy it for sure, they need to take out the artillery too while their at it.
