omg no not an infantry option. it's bf2 . vehicles and infantry. people who nag about must play cs or something. bf2 is great because of the addon of these kind of vehicles...

They do this probably in the hope that we wouldn't recongnise it...

infantry guys definitely need more content. currently we have 3 maps. i'd be very happy if they used the same maps we have now for this 'infantry mode' and just reduced the amount of armor and planes while replacing them with jeeps.

those of us on the infantry side think the larger maps are really cool, but we never get to play them because of the broken AA and the overabundance of armor.

i think the vanilla maps would play fine as infantry maps with the addition of more transport. sure there'd be more snipers, and at snipers, but i'd be more than happy to take that over planes and everyone in armor.

this news couldn't be sweeter, i just hope ea doesn't find a way to 'ea' it up.

Infantry-only is a game mode, conquest won't change so you'll still be able to use vehicles.
Some people (including me) like infantry combat and would like to have the opportunity to fight without tanks/planes/APCs spoiling the fun. And no, I don't like CS so I won't leave the 1337 bf2ers alone and play it.

Heh, well like I feared.. the whiners get to NERF BF2, as if nerfing numuerous other things isnt enough.

By nerfing bf2, I mean Infantry only.. come on! This is BF2 Its all about vehicles and the physics involved.. its what made Code Name Ealge and BF1942 so addicting in the first place.. without them its just another game like Counter Hack.

I am always up for something new, especially if its free this time around but the catering to noobs and whiners has to stop!

Couldn't agree more, I like my BF2 like it is! It's a personal choice though, and if I end up on any servers with this 'Infantry Only' setting I will be personally choosing to leave it and find a 'normal' server, if there is such a thing.. :)


Vote with your feet, server admins will soon get the message when it's only them and some idiot foot soldiers who can't fly to save themselves left playing on their servers...

Good news about the patch for the patch for the patch though ....I guess.

And infantry only is boring, Battlefield needs vehicles otherwise it's not Battlefield anymore but just another CS.

There's always a new patch in the works. Hopefully this one will stop my server crashing every night and destroying great games while they're in progress

It's been a year now since bf2 was released so aswell as a 1.3 hotfix maybe this might be a birthday pressie for all of us,a kind of thankyou and/or apology for sticking with it,buying the boosters,putting up with buggy patches and having dimwit commanders drop cars on ya!

A free map or two would be the right thing to do and would be mucho appreciated...I think I've soiled my under crackers with the anticipation

Great news, I love to play infantry servers when I am bored driving tank or APC.
It's good that they are making new map for free (I hope). They should make new map for every patch that they make.

INF mod will be really nice and surely welcomed, but we should not forget that what makes battlefield 2 battlefield, are the huge maps with tanks, planes,choppers AS WELL as infantry.

Hope for the best, but expect the worse.
Maybe for a change, EA will do something for us-the community-and not only to please their share holders.
