Re: EA Community Update - 5/25/06

Had they used a volunteer open beta system they would have been alerted to the problem soon after they introduced it.

Hooray for betatesting! I would've thought EA would learn their lesson about that via the last... wait... every single damned patch they've released for BF2 (except for the patches that just fix the other patches).

I love Battlefield 2 more than anyone else I know - I've played bf1942 mods (Desert Combat and Forgotten Hope), Battlefield: Vietnam mods (Point of Existence) and Battlefield 2 and its various mods for upwards of four years continuously. I love this game. But these continual issues are really testing my patience. First it was the completely initially unbalanced BF:V at launch, which was subsequently fixed. Now it's all this crap that continues to crop up in BF2. While I applaud EA/DICE for implementing this new vehicle dropping feature so late in the BF2's lifecycle, I can't for the life of me understand how they could leave so many game crippling and irritating bugs in place.

Just the ones that often affect me:

      RED/BLUE TAG BUG

      MISSILE FIRES (BUT DOESN'T)

BROKEN RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AA AND AIRCRAFT

COLLISION DETECTION MESH ON THE M1A2

Plus one that isn't really a "bug", just an irritance: autoswitching from inside squads.

Please, EA/DICE, try harder to fix these!

I will be glad =) There is another glitch they may need to look at though. Ill post the video of it in the forums in a few min.

          Sarcasm I hope?

Anyway our dear friends at EA were probably to busy breaking mods and alternative ranking methods instead of focussing on improving the game and server stability.

If the file wasn't there, certain components of your TCP/IP protocol wouldn't work, essentially making it impossible to work online.

Just a thought (the file doesn't have an extension, it's hosts. ;no file extension)

What does CTD means? (Sry, been out for a while). Also, that didn't fix my problems: the lag from 1.2. Even 1.22 doesn't fix it.

EA: "Oh crap, mods still work, we have to figure out how to break them even more before Armored Fury is released!"

And no, this isn't exaggeration. The PRMM mod team just got screwed by those arseholes:

can't test on production. they probably don't have an environmeny like gamespy to test on. in the end, this issue isn't tester related, its a gamespy issue which can't be tested in beta (because they'd have to upgrade gamespy and then we couldn't play)

                              EA, please repeat after me:
                              1. Code changes
                              2. Send to testers for extensive QA
                              3. Did you skip #2? Bad Bad EA! Now go do step 2.
                              4. Hey, did you skip over 2 and 3? Bad Bad Bad EA. Drop a small paper weight on your crotch, and really complete step 2.
                              5. Ok, ok, now you can release the patch to the public... you really did step 2... right?????????
We are step 2... They made that clear.
