You might want to rethink that one mate.

They both require an Interupt, and they could very well be sharing the same one. That might or might not be the issue your having, but its definitely a possiblilty.

No arguments here. But then that begs the next question: Why is OPK the only program that causes this behavior on my system? I have other BF2 mods installed (NAW and Battle Racer, for example) and they don't reboot the system. Perhaps OPK makes calls to my hardware differently than other games and applications, but ultimately isn't that controlled by the OS anyway?

Because OPK has a known sound issue. BTW, the issue doesn't affect me running an XFI at ultra quality settings. So the issue affects different computers in different ways. For you and a few others, it might be a system reboot. If your computer doesn't know how to handle an unexpected signal, it will react in kind.

Point well taken. After some research, here's what I have IRQ-wise:

IRQ 22: Audigy has this one to itself, however...
IRQ 16: Radeon 9800 shares this with two USB host controllers

I think IRQ 22 is a "virtual IRQ"...but might be wrong about that. My memory is pretty shot, but I think "physical" IRQ addresses end at 12 or possibly 15.

Perhaps a driver update for the Audigy? Windows Update doesn't have one, but perhaps Creative does...

My thanks to Jofaba and Sysex73 for their interest in helping me work through this issue!

Havent read the whole thread, but have you tried swapping the soundcard into a different pci slot? That will change its irq
