Re: TotalBF2 Reviews Operation Peacekeeper v0.1D

Haha, awesome, I was playing with jofaba when he was taking the pictures(you can see me getting owned by the marder in the second to last pic). I was so hoping I would be in it ^_^

But yeah, not a bad review. I'm a bit more critical of the mod, thinking that some of the models aren't of great quality(mostly serbian firearms here). I also really didn't like that nighttime map(borders, I believe). It was just really a game of tag, with barely any chokepoints.

Tarin was great, and is the best map I've played, whether bf2 or any mod.

Ambush was fun, but its large, and while the flags make for good choke... It just seemed a little long-winded, I guess.

One last thing: we saw so many pictures with planes, so where are they!?

      First off... nice review Johoba

      And to some points

No1 - This is a public beta release and not a demo!!!!

Beta release by its name, means it is a test vehicle, and will have areas for improvement, some bugs and content that will be subject to change.

This for a .1 (or d if u prefer) beta release is superb in terms of content and quality. Noted the odd bugs myself, and had the god awful sound bug - but at least they have released a game that has got great content which in the most part works really well.

On the borders infiltration 'game of tig' side, think this is down to the lack of uncaps on the maps. I am not a fan of maps, with no uncaps as basically a lot of the time they go two ways which too me are not good for sustained combat. IE it degenerates into a game of chase the flag, resulting in flag hopping rather than shooting at each other - the concept of defending flags is lost on most bf2 players, which would help against this. The other possability is one team nabs all the flags straight off and its game over. Lack of uncaps also means there is no proper lines of advance, where by taking a control point doesnt really signify you having control of an area.

Really like Borders infiltration though - being able to crouch and go prone in the grass and actually being hidden is great, and can be quite immersive. Like the other maps too, Ambush is the bomb for sniping, some great spots to be found, and Turin can be manic and intense.

Great mod and great 1st release.

PS I hear you can get the aircraft in the 64 player version of Ambush.

Nice review, the quality of the maps blew me away so many buildings and vegetation and no lag (some BF2 maps like Dragon Valle 64 and Daqing Oilfields) to speak off. I love how there are so many places to hide and walk into. Tip when capping a flag don't go into prone but crouch, less chance of
clipping and you're more mobile and can react quicker.

I had alot of fun playing it yesterday, had a good squad with me and saw some familiar faces from tbf2. So kudos for the OPK team, you have really done a great job. Maybe include AAS in your next versions.

Just took the route described in the review, and it is quite nice if you have some good music running in the background

yes its a first demo. It´was a decision to say it´s playable. And were not working fulltime on it.

There are enough mods outside who never release something playable.

It´s not free of bugs. We know it, we will fix a lot. And we never say that it will be a full complete bugfree release. It should be fun to enjoy that we share our hobby.

enjoy playing, give feddback, we can change everthing. And we need your help.

Why are serbian wepaons lowquality? pleaze critizise with examples. Plz show us our errors and bugs.

It's great, it had its issues with BFV but here, it fits perfectly. Just waiting for this and FH2. Then I will have my fun... yes

Don't know anything about serb weapons, but, every time I respawn my comp goes boom an restarts, and that's a ****ing shame cause I'd like to play some more.

This mod is really fun. Except for the sound bug (my poor bleeding ears... I wish I could've found the bastard linked to my ear, because he always had the HMG and wouldn't stop firing), everything about the experience was great.

P.S. Look at those gas prices! No wonder the Gas Station is such a popular flag!

I for one am really happy with the Sounds and Maps. There is a bug with the MG playing everywhere, but its just a code tweak (been thorugh plenty of those myself, lol).

The impact of the sounds hit you like a train, which make it more exciting than Vanilla for me. I like to feel anxiety, it is war after all. Sound can really get you into an aggressive and nervous mood.

Great job guys, I hope all MODs that get completed and released get one of these interviews you guys are doing.

Do you mean the mod or the reviews? If you mean the mod, I'm not sure what you mean by more pictures. The more detailed your suggestions are, the more you'll help the mod teams out.

Funny you should say that! I had a whole paragraph in the first draft where I speculated about what the "C" and the "D" stood for (closed and demo IMO) but it didn't belong in the final draft.

Indeed. If you create you're own local server you'll see the plane. I noticed an odd bug though, at least when you're in a local server. If you pull the plane forward, or any vehicle for that matter, another will spawn in a minute's time as if the server thinks the original crashed. I was going to fill up the runway with spawned planes and take a pic but I couldn't get a third to spawn.

Thank you! But what is a Johoba? Is that like a cross between a Jofaba and a Johova's Witness?

I found myself really concious of my clipping. I guess that's why it bothered me so much. Especially when I was hiding in the second story buildings. I was afraid that my knees were clipping below the floor, legs out the walls etc. I didn't feel comfortable anywhere except standing in the center of the room, which really removed the immersion of the game for me. Once the clipping is fixed, or at least worked on, the mod will really be fantastic.

The funny part is I took that route to prove why a quarter of the map was wasted. I was pleasantly surprised, and it was one of those rare times when I was glad to be wrong. Try it in a tank! Or race through it in a small vehicle. Maybe it's my love of GTA SA and NFS MW, but that route would be a great racing track heh.

I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the mod. Did you use a download accelerator to get the mod? If so, try downloding it without it. That's very strange behavior, and except for software that reads onboard temps (that the board doesn't like), I haven't heard about many pieces of software rebooting a computer. I don't even see how it's possible with a BF2 mod.

Very nice mod, crazy recoil though, but, hey it adds a little more realism to it as possible.

I saw the waterfall on Ambush in my jet, jumped out ouch 'Sir. SashDaMan is no more'

Drove there, got out and decided to go down the water fall, I noticed that on the various different levels, the water goes out a bit too far like on Fushe Pass on one of their water falls. I was swimming in mid air, not a biggie, but just a note.

The D is most likely just the fourth version they tested. You have version 0.1a and it gets betatested and than build upon, version 0.1b gets tested etc untill they release 0.1d. Sometimes the letter gets removed and just called RC1, release candiate 1. Depends on what the devs like to use.

Now I'm glad I left that out of the review lol.

Its not a bug, its like the two J10 on Dalian Plant, another spawn when there is enough space.

pretty much a spot on review i would say. highlights a few of the bugs/problems but also really pulls all the good points forward. To those who moan remeber: its an open BETA.
A tweak here and there and a better set of heli physics and this would really be a great mod easily up there leading the pack.

the maps are excellent for such an early release. they are very atmospheric adn fit the mod theme well.
