Re: EA Community Update - 4/25/06

after the buyout, or sell out, whichever way you would like to see it. it's great to see an update from dice/ea i dont really care when 1.3 will be released. all i care about is when will armored fury will be released. we need new content, maybe dice/ea will consider offering additional booster packs... mayhe they will do port of bf42/bfv to bf2...

also what do they mean by
Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.
does that mean reading death from above. some tank falling on me. or does that mean i can rain death on enemy by dropping vehicles on them. what will it look like. or will vehicles popup out of nowhere. this is starting to sound cheesy. maybe they should just focus on getting the game to work better and stop adding more half baked unwanted features.

Yeah i agree, no doubt we will be seeing flaws in the vehicle air drops.

8 pgs. of this forum summed up for admin!!

Ok, I have just read all 8 pages of this forum and i'm just going to sum this up and hope that the admin can answer the questions that I can't.

The *dropped* vehicles(yes only light jeeps will be able to be *dropped*) will only be able to be used by the commander. Squad leaders will be able to request a drop, along with squad members(not too sure about the squad members thing, but it was on the forums). So far no official people have given a definate answer about what the resrictions are on this patch will be but as far as the whole thing about where you can drop it, I think that most of the people were leaning towords what roger smith had to say....

Basically, the whole map is a battlefield, I dought that ea would put restrictions on that. As far as the whole thing with the no base raping, well, that is really up to how far the admin of the server are willing to let people go with that.

Another restiction that has been talked about is the comander's limit on the time/quantity that he will be able to produce "*drop* jeeps". It will most likly be like the rest of the commander's *tools*, the comander will have use of it, but it will be a while before they can use it again. Plus...

Although A great feature it will not be as effective as you think.
So again bf2 gamers, don't worry too much about the jeep *drops*, the game evens the playing field! No matter what gamers will exploit the "*drop* vehicles", we all have to get used to it, it's part of the deal when playing with real people.

          Questions for admin to answer:
Will we be able to control the way the jeep faces when it is *dropped*?

Will the jeep spawn, be dropped like a supply box, be dropped by an aircraft, or somthing else?

Will there be a wait or will it be an imediate *drop*?

That section was all about 1.3's "*drop* jeeps"

          -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving on to the lock-on fix...

You will now no longer be able to lock-on to your own team mates with AAs or jet missiles. This could be a good or bad thing. Personally I agree with Stryker...

Moving on to the co-op mode...

Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.

Why didn't they just finish that game mode? It boggles the mind ...

But anyway, co-op is fun if you're just, say, three guys on a LAN and you wan't to just mess around or try some stuff out and want live targets. I just hope that DICE has considered that some of us may want to play co-op with offline accounts (some of us are behind firewalls beyond our control and/or do not want to use online accounts).
I think you guys get the idea.

Final Question for admin to answer:
          When is this coming out?

More to come in thr next post from me about 1.3! This one was focused on the topics realted to the original post:

          Attention Soldiers!

Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release:

          NEW FEATURES
          # Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.
          # Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.

BUG FIXES & GAME PLAY TWEAKS
          # Prevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash.
          # Fixed issue with players not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play.
          # Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets.
          # Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target.

Keep in mind this is only a part of what 1.3 will include. Our live team is working diligently to provide the best update possible in preparation for the release of the Armored Fury booster pack!

Re: EA Community Update - 4/25/06

simple idea would to have a "no fly zone" over the uncapturable sections of the maps one at each end --- before people start going on about the aircraft carriers its a figure of speech ok!!

as far as I know main battle tanks are unlikely to be air dropped, humvees etc and light transports no problem,

i think alot of people are jumping the gun on this - i know for a fact i will not log on and see the sky raining vehicles!!!!! the re-spawn time will be short enough,

as for snipers getting mashed under airdrops - hide under a tree etc its just another change of tactics for players,

besides the demands for airdrops from players will be high and will outweigh the commander dropping them at random/on enemys

            thats my 2 cents!!:blabla: :ar15:

This quote is just to remind you that there is still more info to come on this patch.

              Mines

From what I have read, it sounds like the majority of people on the forum want to be able to disarm not only mines, but c4 and clymores too. To tell you the truth I think that that might mess things up. As far as the clays go, that is pretty much a sniper's only defence, so to be able to disable those would make the sniper even a less popular kit choice than it already is. And being able to disable c4, come on, with the way people use c4(waiting for people to run near the c4 or running it into their target) I just don't see a point. The second that you got near the c4 they'd blow you up! It would only be in a very seldom situation that you would actually be able to take the time to disable c4. Think about how much time it takes to pick up a at mine, do you really think that it would add a great new demension to your game play?

That's all I have to say on that one.

              Questions to admin:

Will each class be able to pick up their own class's demolitions in the 1.3 patch?

              Squad Hopping

There have been rumors that this patch will implement a rule that ea will give more points to those in squads. I agree with this guy...

If that happens I think EA will get alot of strongly worded letters!!

I think that that is altogether a bad idea. I'm all for the whole teamwork thing , but that would be just pushing it! Isn't that what clans are for, to play in an orginized fasion? Pubing is for having some fun and getting some points, scrims are for orginzed games.

              Questions for admin:

Re: EA Community Update - 4/25/06

Picking up mines is clearly a problem they had. Clearly there're some problems with coding the pick up ability so that only one's own mines can be picked up, rather than being able to pick up any mine from a team mate or an enemy. Perhaps they actually found some exploits and chose to fix them properly rather than waiting for their 'loyal' community to point it out for them. Perhaps they thought it a gameplay element that would ruin the gameplay seeing as each mine using trooper would be even more effective with their mines as they could reuse any misplaced mines, thus almost doubling the life span of the mines. When I'm an engineer I found the best way to stop a tank I've sneaked up on is by placing an AT mine at the front and back, and normally only one is detonated and I've wasted a second. Being able to get another one back will make the engineer even more lethal as he could fearlessly throw them everywhere and take back each one that wasn't used for another assault.

Or perhaps they've sorted it and it's gonna be in 1.3!

dude, i'm all good with the engineer being able to pick up their mines, it's the spec. ops and the sniper who I don't think should be able to pick up mines.

many people, and I mean REALLY many play MultiplayerGames only at home with bots. MANY Q3Arena users who never played online.
many friends of mine only play BF2-SinglePlayer.

And why blame them ? When I enter a RankedServer and see 3 USMC soldiers
hurting and medipacking each other only for some ****ty medal, not to

am sick of Bf2 sometimes. or the other players.
Bots may be stupid, but they behave more like real people than some
stupid wackos on the servers (and i dont speak of noobs, i am one, too, still)

Engineers can pick up there mines
You wrench them away and they get added to your inventory.
Snipers and Spec. Ops should just place their stuff better.

I think that air dropped vehicles should have a limited number of big ones (ex. tank).
What if they made it so you could drop 1 tank/APC per round
