Woha people let's keep the peace. I'm looking forward to every WW2 mod (some more then others but that is understandable, no?) because modern combat just isn't as cool.

heheheh never heard of DC friend August? If you forget to name that mod I don't really trust the rest of your list too.

And especially the fact you state that I should consider FH has my mod grandfather or so is pretty funny.

XWW2 has it's own community, and has nothing to do with the family you EOD and CE are sharing.:hi:

Oh and mods here, I think it's not fair if you just delete my posts and leave his ones, or is FH sponsoring this whole totalbf2?

        Re: Experience WWII Mod Update

Ya know, being a loyal FH fan it saddens me to see ppl slander a mod in it's update by posting/comparing it to another mod in it's own news update. Ta-ta, jeeze ppl have trying to nix this bad habbit for the last 2 years and it's still going on.

I try to support all mods, I can't mod so I appreciate the work of others and respect the fact that they all have something slightly different to offer to the table.

Good job guys keep it up. In the same token though I wouldn't mind offering some contructive criticism in saying it would be nice if you could spruce up your vehicles a bit, I dunno if it's the lack of some additional things not being modelled like shovels, bags, stuff like that or if the textures seem a bit washed out, but I see it in most of the models with the exception of your ME109 which was stellar.

So, not knocking you guys, I look forward to your mod, I enjoyed the gameplay and your maps were great.

Yeah, it would be cool if XWW2 also joined the BGF team.

Augustus I am not questioning the "grandfathering of bf mods" And Maybey I was wrong to say that Xww2 is as old as FH but they are close to that old and were one of the first mods released and if they are part of soldier realism mod than that I think that was out before FH. I remember that was the first thing I downloaded for BF42. Anyways all of this is because a guy wasnt supporting the mod and claiming FH as the king. FH is the shizz and I have always loved it and played it. I was just sticking up for the guys who work so hard at Xww2.:)

              Re: Experience WWII Mod Update

I'm sorry but I completely agree with Shadowknight. I was playing S9 realism long before I'd even heard of FH and I was a rabid mod fan, I looked at all the mods, big and small. The early mod community owes more to those actually released then than mods that were just "Announced". 4 out 5 announced mods for BF1942 didn't even make it to their first release.

Honestly the early mod community owes more DaCrappers Megatank mod than FH, I mean he even helped with a good portion of FH's early vehicle coding. Hell they still use his Brummbaer and M2A1 105mm Howitzer to this day AFAIK.

Honestly when I first saw your post Augustus I could't help but laugh.

To say there wouldn't be a mod community without FH is rediculous. Perhaps it wouldn't be as big, but saying it wouldn't even exist, come on. XWWII (S9 Realism as it was called back then), Battlegroup42, Desert Combat (and a couple others) were all well established and released with many people playing them by the time FH even made it's first rough beta release and there was a very healthy mod community by that time.

At the peak of BF's popularity DC had at least 4 times the number of players online as FH, do the math man.

Now to say there wouldn't be a BF1942 mod community without Rexman and the tools he created, that I could believe.

                Re: Experience WWII Mod Update

Ugh boys, this discussion is going nowhere. FH, along with EoD, CE (Codename Eagle, based in the old DICE game that's the predecessor of BF1942) were the first 3 mods announced (before the game was actuallly released, and while I was not yet involved in the mod), on the old www.bf42.com site. However as has been said Soldier 9 was one of the first mods actually released, so the answer of which one is older ultimately depends on your definition.

Bf42.com was the place were the baby BF1942 modders (including Augustus, who was very helful for the mapping community) started to fight against/with this awesome engine--too bad it disappeared, it was a wonderful place, with lot of cooperation and friendship in those old days, it was a great adventure, I miss that. Rexman, who was making CE in the beginning, was a great pioneer to whom we all owe a debt, along with some others like Goeterfunke of EoD. These guys as well as some others are the grandfathers of BF1942 modding.

It was a good place for your questions and to seek for help and really get it. (I posted a lot on the editing forums).
It later sort off died out and all the posts where gone.
                      (Remember the kubelcopter?)
What did survived was my modtutorial on Amped in the BF42 menu.

I've been a sort off a helpdesk with BF42 and BFV modding.
Was still geting e-mails from mods and mappers when BF2 was released.
Mostly helping/explaining with coding, making maps, editing textures etc.

I still need to get used to the BF2editor because I have only edited BF2 with notepad yet.

urgh, so many TROLLS who prowl in the comments section of ww2 mods :|

Ok, first off i would like to state that i am an Ex-Desert-Combat tester (not just DC-final, but early DC)

i have been around for a long time, i remember 0.2 where the apache network code was fubar, and you could get connection errors trying to fly it lol... [or what about earlier internal versions with the A10 on the aircraft carrier, and the challenger tank ??]

i rememeber being on the BF42 boards, but under the nick "AsSaSiN" [BF42 boards] (yes it was a lame nick, was unoriginal... so i changed to "Clueless" [Time of DC-Testing], and soon i started seeing this same nick on servers and decided it's time for an original nick again, so i just went all-out and went with SirFluffy.

So yeah, ive been around for a while too, without people realising :p

ok he was talking about the first ANNOUNCED mods, not released.
since when did anyone say there would be no community without FH?

** "DC had 4 times the players of FH" - well true, but in bf42.. people were tired of WW2, they wanted MODERN equipment. - today, in bf2 it's the opposite, they want WW2 again!.... and also, right now i think there are as more servers/people playing FH than DC (i'm not totally sure, but i heard this from somewhere)

And to all those people coming onto the boards to hijack the comments section, and be the TROLLS they are, go back to living under your bridge.

Please, Sir. Akland, for the God sake, can everybody just comment the XWW2 work in the XWW2 news?, this kind of comments cause negative discussions, this starts to be tiresome
