Here is what we know about the weapons that will be featured in Battlefield 2142.


Pan Asian Coalition Weapons
NK-96 (Assault Rifle):
The NK-96 is hailed as an accurate frontline infantry weapon, especially in single-shot mode. When fired fully automatic, the weapon suffers from a significant level of recoil due to its light weight. A built-in optical sign and a high rate of fire have made this rifle a favorite for PAC troops.

NK-42 (Light Machinegun):
Using the same polymers and weight-saving devices as the NK-96 allows the NK-42 to carry more bullets per clip than its EU counterpart, at the cost of lower stopping power. While capable of sustained suppressive fire, the NK-42 incorporates safety measures to prevent high heat from igniting its ammo box.

NK 1000 Type 2 (Sniper Rifle):
The combination of new crystal alloys and smart AI-IFF systems makes for the highly effective sniping platform. Using a laser ignition, the crystal dark fired from the Type 2 provides the same level of accuracy as the NK-980, without the jarring recoil. The tradeoff is that it packs less punch.

American-European Alliance Weapons
FL-PSG (Sniper Rifle):
The FL-PSG fires a jouronium dart in a semiautomatic configuration. While highly accurate and very powerful, the FL-PSG suffers from high recoil, which favors experienced snipers. An advanced stabilization system incorporated into the system allows for snipers to overcome muzzle drift.

Gage 2100 (Light Machinegun):
The Gage 2100 greatly increases the efficiency of any strikers on the battlefield. Micro-jouronium alloy in the primary components of the Gage 2100 eliminates the need to charge barrels as with the 21st -century machineguns. However, its computer system will interrupt firing if heat becomes and issue.

I'm here for the long run and I hope everyone else is to.

Why spend so much time on one game just to move on a year later? I stuck with the last game I played since its release(C&C Renegade almost 4 years ago now).

Considering the ranking system and that BF2142 basically looks like a mod (so far), it seems like BF2 will do OK. If BF2142 has a lot of cool new features, or heaven forbid better performance and netcode, that might change things.

BF2 will not survive IF BF2142 has less bugs than BF2.
It's just a matter of taste. I don't feel very battlefieldish if there are mech running around and weapons that shoot out blue light after every bullet. And besides, BF2142 has the same engine as BF2, people will come back, like with BF2:SF.

people said the exact same thing about BF42 when BFV was released. Yet people are still playing BF42. BFV had improved graphics and added a bunch of new features but still...

It won't beacause IMHO the percentage of people that like modern realistic combat is higher than the ones that like futuristic Sci-Fi themes. But many younger players will switch to BF2142.

IMO, BF2142 has EA written all over it. Look at the fall release, cmon . Dice does quality things, EA on the other hand seeks $$ and nothing more. Now that EA has absorbed Dice the consumer will have to wait for EA to get out of the way, and let the creative Dice produce what we all want which is BF3. I think BF2142 will flop.

BF2142 is pretty much just BF2 with mechs (at least from the info I've seen so far). I'm supposed to shell out $50 for mechs? I'm not even interested in them. Unless there is a lot new, I won't bother with EA's latest ripoff.

I'll probably just keep playing buggy BF2 or go back to BF1942 and curse that I don't have a few of the features of BF2.
