look at desert combat - it hasen't died since BFV and BF2 came out - and its a bf1942 mod (who's team was hired to work on bf2)

no it won't die after that, BF2141 is like BFvietnam was for 1942 , it will be popular, but have less players then BF2, also BF2 will stay alive , and will only die when the true BF3 is released (meaning new gameengine and stuff) .Comment

Im a little skeptical about BF2142. For some reason i like real-time real-life war games. Ill probably get BF2142, just because, but ill still stick with BF2. There's somethin about getting into a robot and shooting lasers at a hover-copter that doesnt spark my fancy.Comment

I agree with the posts above. The fact is we all love the BF games because they are pretty much representative of combat that we know of... BF 1942 as World War 2 from movies and history... BF Vietnam again from the same sources... and BF2 well... from the news we see pretty much everyday...
It's basically easier to relate something that exists... That we know has a basis in reality... Selling the BF series with a futuristic angle... Well I think it will be far less popular... Especially since Quake Wars looks so damn impressive already.Comment

bah, mechs, sounds like a MechAssault 4 Bf21242 (or wtf u spell it). And plus it dont sound realistic like c'mon, who wants to be runnon around on the battlefield when like 20 million mechs pop out of no where becaz they were cloaked!!!!!!!

first of please speak english, second its using the same engine as BF2, so what, there are many many games using existing game engines, that doesnt lessen its credibility. Third, this is just a transition game, from BF2 to BF3, just like BF:V was the transition from BF42 to BF2.
And get over the mechs, they will be extremely slow, and probably hard to use and easy to take down.
