i just hate the map

I didn't like it either at first, but after playing it a lot I started to really like the battles in the stair wells, that is just the best.

Iron Gator is great fun when sniping the guys on jetski's or C4ing your own on the MEC team

I find it rather easy to get into the ship, just grab the APC (hoping the chopper is busy with something else) and high -tail it to the rear of the ship and your in, that easy. But if the chopper is near, have some AT DUDES on top of the APC firing away, if that dont work, like someone said hover the chopper 500 ft and drop only to open you chute 100ft from the deck.

The gator is one of the best maps on the game!

And being MEC is just even better!
You need to be fast and uses tatics, in a squad, now i know somepeople may turn round and ask 'what the hell is teamwork in a squad' but thats what the game is based around!

As i said, one of the best maps on the game!

to get mec on the ship quickly, u need to get in helo, fly around aft and come up at hangerbay, u can land chopper right in there. its also smart to have a person jump out near well deck and swim in to cap engine room. I've seen some stupid usmc teams that dont guard it.

heh, flown into the hangar a few times myself with the apache, not really THAT special, but it is funneh none-the-less.

but i don't get how he capped the flag, my experience is the flags don't react to me down there when i'm in a chopper, always have to get my gunner to get out and then i cover him.

and he shoulda just ran over that teammate. but he seemed shakey in the chopper down there anyways. it's suprisingly easy to navigate down there, more than one would think, but no reason to worry about every little movement.

i find in practice though it only takes one guy with an AT rocket to ruin your day in that hanger. he can hide and out manuever you very easily when you are in the helo. it's pretty much a death sentence in any game that has any half-aware player in the hangar.

that said, i will frequently put myself in the beginning part of the hangar, near the lift just inside and put the hurt on that way. until i see a specops or an AT guy that has a clue, then book it out of there.

yep good strategy. also the MEC apc needs to head to the west MEC shore and take out the essex AA gun and keep it down until the MEC has some flags capped.

lol, don't think many people would join,

I know sometimes MEC wins the map, but this is only when the US team sucks big time, and there are more supports on deck then AT's .

If the US team knows what it is doing, enough AT guys on deck, good pilot and guy in ESSEX , then the MEC won't get on the ship at all

Yeah, that is true...I think most of the time people are afraid of getting into the ship and are frustrated. I just wish they had a fight in the ship that people dont have to worry about getting in the ship on the 32 and 64 maps.. 16 is the only one that you start out fighting in the ship. hmmm... since I have a 32 server I could make it a 16 map...would that help?

probably not. there is probably only a small percentage of SF players that really like gator. I only know of one 24/7 gator server (*fw* gauntlet), that I play on, and sometimes its empty.

Yeah, you're right.. people just hate getting to the ship I think, and once you are in it, it's a maze.

I'll do a 24/7 Surge for tommorrow morning and see if anyone bites.
