    Re: MEC arabic language mistakes....

    The English accents in SF are soooooo annoying !! Where DID they get them from? Sounds like Americans trying to do English - something they never ever manage to do (no disrespect intended!).

    I haven't heard anything THAT bad since **** Van Dyke's attempt in Mary Poppins - and that was 1964 !!

    Still - really interesting thread, and a refreshing change from the norm. Thanks all.

    Lol ... D I C K Van Dyke got censored.

    But Dyke didn't .. weird !!

      " Russian Rebel group and a Middle-Eastern Insurgent faction. These last two armies are apparently inspired by, respectively, Chechen rebels and insurgents in Iraq, but not named as such in the game" from wikipedia bout the rebels.

        The PLA voice is not accurate but it's because way too strong Cantonese accent. The words themselves are just fine, if you know what the man wants to say (I'm Chinese, but it's still hard to me.). But it sounds pretty freaky that a PLA dare to speak in that way. He definitely will slapped on face by some officer IRL.
        btw. the female voice says UAV online is perfect.

            My friend is Korean, and he is semi-fluent in Chinese and just about fluent in Japanese. He watched me play Dalian one day and noticed a few mistakes.

              Heh...usually when I talk formal arabic the arabs laugh because I sound too formal or typical perhaps.For example instead of saying "Bidi aroo7 li Dubai" I prefer to say "Ana oreed an adhab(aw ousafir)ila Dubai".
              What do the "3" and "7" stand for? I don't think you're writing in 1337, lol

              Sorry, I had already asked my previous post, lol

                the '3' and '7' are letters in the arabic alphabet and has its unique sounds. Since we can't actually type the actual letter, the number 3 and 7 are used because it closely resembles the letters in arabic.

                people in afghanistan dont speak arabic.

                      What sound do they make? In German the harsh gutteral "ch" like in "loch" is written as "cH" or just "H" (yes, the capital makes a diff) so the sound can be written in some form. I assume it can me like a mix of two other letters... ?

                        3 = aAA

                        7= HHH

                        it's difficult to explain it in text only, you have to hear it to understand it. So to answer your question, no he's not trying to write in 1337 format lol.

                                Considering the few people in the USA / CAN who know Arabic, it's not supprising to see EA make such mistakes.

                                Thanks for pointing them out though. I myself always wondered if they were in deed correct or not.

                                *BTW nice avatar "nicej"
