Do you not agree that the vehicles seem illogically over-powered? Why couldn't they be more like real life, it doesn't require much imagination on Dice's part does it? Have 2 stingers cripple an aircraft for example?
Something is definately wrong.
No I dont agree. If this game was exactly like real life, it would be extremely boring. You dont want to die and respawn every time one bullet hits you. That would be extremely boring, thats why it takes a few shots to bring someone or something down. Taking a helicopter to the front takes time, and your lucky if you get it at all, you dont want to die instantly from a no-skill stinger shot from someone who just heard your sound and jumped into the stinger. You need SOME chance to get away if your a skilled pilot. In the end you would just not bother using it at all if you got it as realistic as you want it.
2 stingers won't take it down, even if they do manage to hit in the first place.
It goes beyond debate of realism, and into the realm of just plain annoyingly stupid.
Again - All I see in the final top-three is aviators and armour drivers.
The balancing is just wrong, regardless of how arcadey the game is supposed to be.
i played a round of karkand today on a 32 person server...the only vehicle i used was a ditched vodnik to kill the guy that got out and 2 of his squadmates...other than that i was on foot the entire round and ended in first place (actually tied with the other teams commander, but due to higher tw points and more kills it gave me the gold)...i ended the round with a total of 98 points, all but 6 of which were on foot...so the statement you made isn't entirely true...
on the other hand, if you have good team play on any team you should be able to eliminate armor problems without too much trouble...unfortunately, if your team isn't working together and the other team has decent armor players, then yes, they will be the ones at the top of the list at the end of the round...
same goes for aircraft, on oman for example...if you hold the beach front bases and man the stingers as necessary, that with semi competant pilots up, air threats at that point become slim to none...
like anything else in this game, it all comes down to teamwork...which exactly how this game was developed to be played...if you want real teamwork then join a clan, practically every time the team practicing organized teamwork will win
I know what you are saying scrat. But at the same time, it all depends on the servers you play on. Sometimes some smacktard will teamkill you for a jet or helo, othertimes you can get to basically choose whatever vehicle you want. I was not intending to be rude in any way, but the fact is everyone starts from scratch more or less when starting a round. There is no guaranteed way to spawn next to a vehicle, you ahve as good a chance as anyone else. What you do with that opportunity is up to you.

Agreed, apart from the top 3 spots comment. I'm usually sniping and I have managed to be in top spots sniping the whole round. But your comment is more or less on the money.
One word (or acronym rather)...
OFP
Enough said, go do some more homework before making such a EA brown-nosing comment
OFP does different things than BF2. You cannot compare the 2. BF2 has superior graphics and will ahve even better mods while OFP has a broader general scope. . I think you should really Wait a couple more months until the mods start coming out before making a semi-intelligent moderately amusing more-dumb-than-smart @ssed comment.:box:
I can also say that i really hate being vehicle raped constantly.
The problem is that infantry are just so innefective against armour, and the vehicles have an easy time of it, espc when they are 2 miles away whoring a base with infinite ammo.
Having said that, armour isnt the worst part. If anyone here has played wake, you will know what i mean when i say Z/J-10 carrier whorage. All they do is destroy the Phalanx, and their set. Even if they do get hurt, its back to base for repairs and back they go. Infantry should really have portable stingers for these kinds of threats. The emplaced ones are deathtraps, pilots will see you, fly out of draw distance, line up, and go guns ablazing before you can even lock.
And yes, the high score thing does **** me off, and i agree with the OP that vehicles now do offer an easy path too loads of points. All you need is to have some knowledge of using the tank, or APC, and your set. Infantry rarely staad a chance, as the guy will simply position himself so as too kill the most infantry at spawns. Its really annoying.
If so, your in the wrong game. Play a game with only infantry then. I love how it plays now. A tank or APC is SUPPOSED to spread some fear until a good team can take it out.
A squad of 5 Anti-Tankers can stop Armor on almost any map. They won't be able to do much except for some Eryx sniping, but that goes with the territory. :P
In response to the point that damaged vehicles don't have degraded performance, its a fair point. On the other hand, if you're infantry and have one health bar left, you're not left limping across the Battlefield, trailing your blood and guts behind. :)
