    Internet Connection Suddenly dies?

Hey. Occasionaly when I play BF2 for like 4 or more hours straight I will automatically get the "You have a problem with your connection" . then it brings me back to the server choice and all the servers are gone and I hear teamspeak tell me my connection has been lost. If i qiut Bf2 and try to use internet I cant. Right now just restarting seems to fix it temporarily but I would love to know if anyone else has experienced this or knows how to fix it.

Note: Sometimes my computer will make noises like a "BEEP!" when I do certain keyboard combos like control + W + D so I cal crawl in game. is it possible that a keyboard combo is disconnecting me from the net?

after 4 hours BF2 has probably used up all your RAM.

As for your jeyboard it will bleep if you press more than 3 keys.

A.) I have 512 so probably. But how does it use up all the ram? Before patch came out I did a 10 hour straight BF2 game with my clan.

B.) Thanks for the keyboard thing.

If you are using an integrated nic card try a different one and disable the integrated.
            Also;
            Are you on network?
            Using a router?
If you are on a network do other computers lose connection.

I recently ran into this with my network. My integrated nic went out at the same time as my router. My reboots would solve the problem temporarily till it died for good.

What is your definition of "run"?

Regarding the original poster's issue, if your computer is losing its connection to the internet, it is highly unlikely that BF2 is to blame. More likely a network issue. Is your machine connected directly to your modem, or on a network? Cable, DSL, or other? Who is your provider?

It is your memory if everything runs slow after exiting BF2. Mine was loosing connection the same way so I took a spare 80 gig HD and set it up for BF2 and networking only, nothing else loaded on it. With no extras running in the background it helped out a lot. Now I have no problems and upon leaving BF2 it runs smooth back in windows.

                    Seriously,
                    Its a Dell 3.0Ghz (533mhz fsb), Ati 9700128mb(notebook version), 60Gb Hitachi 7200rpm, with 512mb ddr333.
Runs smooth 800x600 on medium settings. Average 50-60fps.
Dont go hating on the laptop :)
I really cant explain why it works that well.

Well that answers it. Your definition of run is extremely different than mine. If I wanted to feel like I was playing asteroids on a 1974 console I would just go out and buy one instead of trying to replicate it in BF2.

                      You crack me up, LOL.

After playing for that long, losing your connection is God's way of saying "Take a Break"

And I am directly connected to modem.
I have comcast as an ISP.
It hasnt happened in a few days now.

Go into the windows device manager and navigate to the power management properties tab for your network adapter.

Uncheck the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" dialog box.

                            Good Luck.

That is not the issue. Windows would not turn off the device in the middle of a BF2 game to save power.

On second thought, it being Windows, I'm not so sure about that. Better uncheck it. :)
