Didn't know the helos used TOW's (not TOW's as in Hellfire). Are they the slower straight flying ones? While the Hellfires are the ones that doesn't appear in the LOS until it strikes?

Looks like the Hellfires seem to take an angle from above or above and to the left :p. The TOWs seemed to go straight at it and sometimes do a spiral :p.

I thought the gun was the most surprisingly impressive thing in that video, it looked amazing nothing like what we have ingame.

Different Hellfires and TOWs do different things. There are different variants and as far as Hellfires, there are several different modes for firing. They can go straight or come from above so you could theoretically shoot over an object in the way with another unit lasing the target for you. I can't get the video to come up yet but I'd really like to see it. You can tell what missle is what usually from just watching it's flight path or, more simply, just looking in the TSU screen.

Edit: I got the video to come up and noticed that I've seen it before as it's from my old squadron...pretty crazy.

For the most part, although on a couple of night shots i saw the TOW go all the way in from like 4 KM wow... Look on the right side for the weapon indicator, and the bottom center under the crosshair for the range indicator, then observe which does what and at what range. Again good schtuff.:)

Great video. Makes you respect BF2 Gunship pilots alittle bit more. It can be frustrating but it isn't easy to fly and nail tanks with a TV. Good find.

                  Re: the real tv missile

Once again name is mislanding. TV Missile is a way old technologie used mostly on A10 thunderbolt missile called "Maverick"

I will try to clarify some things (with my crappy english).

                  - Most TOW missile use a SACLOS aiming system which means Semi Automatic Command Line of sight.
Operator keep the sight on the target and the electronic of the sight via a infrared beacon placed in the ass of the missile do measurement and correct the position of the missile will order are gives via a wire between Operator and the missile (You can see it on the movie). It's like the sight say to the missile *move to the left, now move to the top* in order to keep the missile in the line of sight. That's explain the movement of the missile will flying.

                  - Hellfire is way different. It's a homing missile. There is an infrared sensor in the head of the missile.
Before launch the operator set the type of flight (low attitude, high attitude, direct strike, top attack, lock before or after launch ...).
Once again the operator must keep the sight on the target until the missile strike it. But this time the sight is "active" because the sight emits an infrared laser dot on the target (like a spot light) and the head of the missile search it.
The way to use bought missiles is the same, but hellfire type of flights can be usefull to strike armor between trees or in urban environnements.
But TOW missile is much cheaper than hellfire.

With hellfire, the helicopter can be use as a missile carrier will special forces bright a target with infrared laser beam.

Keep in mind map scale. The BF2 Wake map is 1/25 scale of the real Wake Island. I beleive its ingame dimnesions are 2km x 2 KM. Therefore the missiles n such make more sense as they are currently than a more realistic setting.

That's awesome!!! I like how it curves when it's leaving the chopper.
Also looks like if you wanted you could punch in the GPS cords from some of that video and check out where the carnage was happening.

refering to the german music.....Rammstein was the best thing to happen to Speed Metal since Motorhead.

and yeah the song was Rammstein - Du Hast from the Sensucht album.
