Claymore should be removed in SF and urban maps

It's ruining gameplay, especially in Warlord Palace.

You have to play smarter than the people that uses the claymores.

my thaughts exactly , I hate claymores, I realy do, and many people are purely abusing them and using them as there only weapon, if you ask me, beeing able to set the FF of for claymores and mines was the biggest mistake DICE made.

Or FF gets turned on again, or we can destrioy them with nades again.

also, like in the tv station, when some moron blocked the stairs with a claymore , you just can't do nothing .

Nothing? Course you can do something about it. If you mean on Warlord, you can use the grappling hook to get up to the balcony-type-thing where the flag is, or zipline to it from the top of a neighbouring building... That's what these tools are for - to give you additional tactical flexibility, and the ability to approach flags from unusual or unanticipated directions. If you mean the TV station on Sharqi, where you don't have grappling hooks because you're back in vanilla BF2, there is a ladder on that one to get you up onto that balcony and avoid the stairs altogether. Like Widkidone said, you just have to outhink them. Failing that, make sure you have a medic with you and then deliberately set it off and let the medic revive you - he gets a bonus two points for the revive, you both get a free run up the stairs, and your team doesn't lose a ticket because the medic saved you.

That said, I do hate running into them, and I do think they should be destroyable if you see them. If nothing else, it'll force the snipers to actually think about where they place the claymores (ie hiding them better) rather than just spamming them everywhere. I'm glad FF is off for them though, because otherwise people would be too scared to use them - some idiot will always run towards that big red warning on their screen to investigate, and then punish you. Plus it stops thoughtless engineers blocking all your team's armour into your main base...

when there is a map with ONLY one passageway, there is no way you can play smarter.

there is something wrong when you have a whole squad of snipers rushing an outpost with claymore, and they got it.

Re: Claymore should be removed in SF and urban maps

some classes don't have graple hooks or zip lines, and ziplines can't be used to go up , also the trigger distance of the claynmores is so big, even if you use a graple hook or zipline, you get owned anyway and you can't see over the edge, wich means, you use graple hook and end up dead because there is another claymore there .

having a medic with you is most effective, but BF2 players aren't perfect (it are humans) meaning there isn't always a medic around, there isn't always a medic around who will revive you, the medic gets shot before you, ....

I freely admit.....I played one round in warlord where all I did was spam claymores to get my basic explosives badge. It was actually pretty fun. Since then I have not thrown another claymore, because I dont play sniper. Their should definitely be a way to disable them somehow though...

I know it's not perfect, but there is no hard and fast way to win - and that's the way it should be. When grappling/zipping to the flag on the balcony, you have a choice of directions to go at the balcony from. The enemy can't cover them all - that large triggering distance on a claymore is only to the front, not to the sides or rear. There's a chance you can get killed by a claymore if you try to go directly for the balcony this way - if the enemy thinks about it, but I generally find they don't. If there's a claymore by the flag itself, it's usually pointing away from the flag back towards the stairwell to catch people who have made it up the stairs. Or that's how I normally see them anyway. If there happens to be one pointed right at where you throw your hook over, well, bad luck happens sometimes.

Assault and anti-tank get the grapples, and sniper and spec ops get the ziplines. A well rounded squad should surely have at least one player playing one of those classes, so you should have some flexibility there, and if you don't then your squad is probably full of medics and support - which means they can revive you if you trip a claymore. I know the medic can't always make it to revive you, but if you're already on the stairs then they should have a reasonable chance. And if not, then the rest of your squad can make their way up the now-cleared stairs, taking care not to trip over your dead body as they admire your dedication to duty and mourn your martyrdom, and cap the flag, allowing you to respawn right back on top of them...

I tend to find claymores most effective against "lone-wolf" type attacks. A squad attacking as a cohesive unit will be able to get around or right through the claymores to get to the flag, meaning the claymores weren't really all that effective aside from giving the sniper a kill or two.

With the latest iteration of the patch, snipers can only have two active anyway - which I think is good. But I think they do give a tactical dimension to the game, and I wouldn't like to see them removed. Destructible again would be nice though, so that if the sniper isn't careful about where he deploys them, you can spot it and 'nade it to clear the path.

Wow, must be hard to see those claymores with those tears in your eyes. While I do agree that clays should be able to be detonated by grenades and other explosives, I don't agree that they should be taken out of the game in any way. You should just be forced to chuck a nade around a corner to detonate them before you go running into a room like a nut...

I was playing a Warlord game with a squad full of sniper, medic, and support in Warlord. You kill him, he gets revived, he plants a claymore, then he gets another one.

Stop compaining you all. Snipers have only 2 claymores, so where is the problem?
About destroying clays with granates it is not good idea, just cause you are not supposed to see the clay before you are already dead. Don't forget that claymores are bubby trap weapon!!!

If you plant your 2 claymores, get killed and plant two more, doesn't that negate the last 2?
