I liked gettign the points for unlocks.
But now I'm >20K and I need some specific badges to get the rank increase, I'm actually at negative points to get to the next level, I've past it but will not get eh up until I get a couple badges.. And that is just too much work.
I play to win the game, and trying to get 7 knife kills in a game so I get a badge and get to the next level doesn't help my team at all.
I have enough unlocks so far - If I have the chance to knife someone I will, but to spend an entire game trying to knife 7 people instead of playing to win the game doens't seem like a good idea.
maybe I'll stats pad to get the badge - so as not to ruin numerous games for my team while I focus on this one badge, then the next, etc.

I'm loving the response from people, it seems alot of people have got bord of the stats system. Like I said in the original post I'm loving ****ing people off, new one for ya, place a claymore @ the enemy attack chopper take off point and watch the buggers try and get close to that chopper. LMAO!!! Bloody good fun.

As the title says, I've had enough of stats whoring. I've decided to just play for fun and do stupid things to annoy people. For example last night I bailed out of a helicopter over the enemy base, managed to land on one of the aircraft hangers, I waited there patiently until I heard a plane engine start the dropped a mine off the edge of the hanger.......BOOM, this guy didn't realize what I was up to, I even ended up with the commander dropping me some supplies as I run out of mines. I've really started to love this game now I've given up the stats whoring.

Has anyone else given up stats whoring????

I understand what you are saying. And first and foremost let me just say, its cool. I dont know you, therefore I cant say anything negative re: you.
However, the things you are saying here, are some of the things that can really ruin a game. The tactics, and the thought process, of you saying,

. I dont know man..... like I said, its cool, and whatever, but it just seems wrong.
Now, on a side note, it is fun to annoy people in this game. I'll completely agree with that. Nothing better then to pop some c4 on a copter, and just wait for it to get fully loaded...and even better to wait to its fully in the air and on it way...in other words wait...let them think...we are free, we are free!! and then, BOOM..see ya.
Or to walk up to some support/sniper guy who is laying prone oblivous to you being behind him...i wont knife the guy if i have a sniper kit. I just lay a claymore next to him, and walk away. It is funny to see, 2 minutes later...... "howiemandel killed unsuspecting dumb guy" lol

I am semi-interested in my stats, however, I play more to win than to stat whore.

But, to be honest, I am glad that I do want to get all of my veteran badages because it has forced me to play every kit for 15 hours. . . which forces me to learn how to play that kit and when it is the most useful so I have become a better all round player.

I can see this because I have two friends, one who only plays to win and he only plays with the L85 as a medic. Period. He almost never switches out of that kit and, if he ends up with another kit, he is virtually useless. I have another friend who only plays for stats (playing with these two together is always an adventure :)) but he will always go for a vehicle so he doens't learn how to play any kit (except for medic).

Stat whoring, for me, has taught me well. . .now, when I play to win, I can best help my team under any situation which has, in fact, made the game more fun.

Almost have all of my veteran badges. . . less than an hour each on spec ops and sniper.

Sometimes you have your best game when you throw caution to the wind and do some unpredictable things. Last night on Karkand, I decieded to be a spec op and go after every single tank I saw and blow it up. If I would have started out as a spec op, then I would have easlily had my explosive badge and my vertern badge.

I play for the ebling, lol. I know it sounds silly but i just like to get awards makes me feel like i acomplish something. Also there's like 5 people we kind of work together and we kind of compete.

Ya I know what you mean. I had lots of fun playing but became obsessed with getting to the next rank, medal, badge lol.

I don't see what's wrong with trying to get to the next rank...

I only really started to slow down on BF2 and start playing CSS when I was promoted to Sergeant Major and had all of the unlocks. There was nothing to really set your mind to and get anymore.

When you play for fun, the next rank isnt that far away...i still remember the day i got my Sgt before the patch that gave everyone a high rank...now im going to Major

starts having fun after getting 1st sergent. Enjoy hunting down the enemy commander. I don't shoot him, i knife him between the eyes while he's in commander screen.

I don't play the game all that often so i'm never going to get the big points/ranks. I used to play for the stats but once i got to 8,000 i realised how long is was going to take me to 20,000 so gave up completely on the stats. My K/D ratio has plummeted but my spm has risen at a greater rate. I really don't care how often i get killed i just have as much fun as i can. I like to play the supporting roles following people around helping them out. If a flag/room needs taking i'll be the first one to go running in, guns a blazing, to try and take out as many as i can for others to follow in and finish it off. It's only 15 seconds (or a medic heal) to wait before i can try it again. I used to play sniper (over 80 hours at it) and had only 8 claymore kills with a K/D of around 2. I've recently added another 10 hours as a sniper (all on Karkand) and amassed another 190 claymore kills. My K/D is now down at 1, I don't care, it's great fun doing this, especially as I know it drives the stat mongers mental getting killed over and over by claymores.

In the beginning i was going for the ranks,but now after i got 5000(now 6700) i felt that reaching 8000 would take some time . Now im just playing for fun,sometimes just kidding around with the enemy, like driving over them with my jeep, and run em over with transport heli`s.. U get bored of just going for the scores all the time... Fun, is much more FUN!

I try to do both, but I don't focus on any one aspect of it. The thing I focus on the hardest is trying to find people to work with. Being in a sqaud makes the game so much more enjoyable, I never look at the numbers then. I just focus on the task at hand, but it seems like so many players have thrown that too the wind infavor of being Uber.
