I don't know who did that research for you but I can tell you for sure I
accidently killed a teammate while trying to take out a tank (he ran into
the line of fire) and he punished me. I had no points at the time. I look
at my score, -4 points.

-4 is the standard penalty for a teamkill. Being punished or forgiven doesn't matter (in terms of your points - it just brings you closer to a kick if you get punished). The people who think they've gotten -6 for a teamkill after being punished have actually taken -2 for team damage (ie wounding your teammate) and then a further -4 for a team kill, giving -6 in total whether you're punished or not.

You also get -2 for team vehicle damage, and -2 for a suicide.

It seems as if people Punish instantly, no matter what happened. I play on a good clan server alot. Last night I was flying in Chinese Transport Heli. I'm heading to cap a flag and 2 teammates in a jet slam right into me, giving me the TK. Then, they punished me for it lol. They told me the reason for the punish was "Hit the wrong key, sorry bro". Brought me to -8 because of their little mistake. I hate that crap. If I know it wasn't on purpose, I'll forgive everytime.

Oh and it is -1 for Team Damage. I know from experience.

Does that mean that if you tk somone without giving them team damage ie. kill somone in one go, with c4 say, you will only get -4? I know that if you pump a couple of rounds into a team mate you get -2 team damage.
On the issue of wether you should punish, i forgive the majority of the time, if it was someone doing something stoopid, then i give them the respawn count to apologise. If however it's a blatant attempt to ruin my game then punish all the way and slate them on the text. I got tk'd for the AA on op. clean sweep the other day and that p*ssed me off. I've also been tk'd for a medpack which is the worst example i've seen.

for an outright tk with no punish YOU WILL ONLY GET -2 points, WHICH STILL COUNTS TOWARDS THE TK KICK/BAN.

If you kill a team-mate outright, without wounding him first, (eg if you get a headshot with a sniper rifle, direct hit with bombs from your jet, grenade etc etc) you will get just -4, yes.

team damage = -2
punish = 0
teamdamage + teamkill = -6

i was wonderin does punish someone for tk send them to hell or something..beacuse on every clan server it always says if you punish are clan mates we will ban you...

not all clans do that for example we have turned punish off.

yes it does, being punished DEFINATLEY takes more points.

A good system is like they have on the TV2 servers it actually says at the top of the screen if you punish'd or forgave and also shows how many punishes and forgives you have given that round.

I also played on a server that showed how many times someone had punished or forgiven. I wish more servers would incorporate this system.
