Random CTD/FREEZE/RESTART thread for v.1.22

This post is to report any random, crash, freeze, and/or restart experienced as of 1.22

I had been having a restart issue previous to the new patch, i was hoping that this new hotfix would resolve it. I think it might have but not sure. I did seem to get a Freeze, which according to my event viewer is linked to my vid driver (6.3 cat).

Going to keep experimenting and hope this is what i have been waiting for.

Additionally if the new patch resolved any of the above (CTD,Freeze,REstarts) post what your issue was and that it is now solved.

mine just ctd's after i click on the shortcut it goes black for 2 secs then CTD. I sure hate EA's crappy code.

Ok first of all thank you guys for posting your issues, and yes plese keep it to CTD, Freeze and restart issues. If something was fixed by this patch dont tell us everything is okay, without posting the previous problem.

As for me, unfortunately i am still expereinceing the random restart issue 10 min. into a multiplayer game. I was good for an hour last time and though it was fixed. Went and told my crew and went online and BANG, my computer restarts in the middle of the game.

Prior to 1.22, i would only CTD very rarely.

Since 1.22 on the 2 times I tried to play it, the first time I got a hard crash (nothing responding anymore) and the second time I got a CTD mid game

I did a fresh install 3 times now, patched it with a full 1.21 patch, fresh video drivers and I still get this same glaring error, deleted my config files in my documents and have even went as far as reformatting my PC now.

I go to click connect to server or create server, it says joining or creating and then it changes resoultion and goes straight back to desktop, this is in both MP and SP.

With a clean computer and install of the game, updated drivers and the works I am at a loss of what to do here.

My PC specs

ATI Radeon 8500 128mb version
1gb RAM
AMD Athlon XP 2100+

I'm still having the problem of BF2 restarting whenever I join a server. It's happening everytime now, haven't got on to a server for ages. My last battle was January 24th, but that only lasted a few minutes as the computer restarted.

after patching to 1.22 last night I had 2 CTD's in the first hour of playing. :<

I WAS working fairly well after installing the incremental 1.22 patch but I was getting the CTD more often. So I decided to do a fresh re-install and use the big 1.22 patch. Big mistake.

I uninstalled
cleaned the registry with a reg cleaner program
manually searched the registry and cleaned it too
re-installed vanilla
-everything was great - played single player and it was fine

installed SF
installed the BIG 1.22 patch
- can't even get to the EA splash screen before it dies to the desktop

went through the uninstall process again (reg cleaner, etc)
installed vanilla
- still can't even get to the EA splash screen before it dies to the desktop

went through the uninstall process again, AGAIN (reg cleaner, etc)
installed vanilla AGAIN
- still can't even get to the EA splash screen before it dies to the desktop

WIPED MY ENTIRE HARD DRIVE
RE-INSTALLED THE ENTIRE OPERATING SYSTEM AND ALL DRIVERS
re-installed vanilla
- it's working again!

So tonight I'm going to try going through all the incremental patches to get back to 1.22.......

Mine will sometimes randomly restart.

Just thought I would add that.

Mine too... rare CTDs (and just after 1.2X patches) and also random (and more frequent) "connection losts" from servers --> http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66690

download windbg and open the dmp files in the dmp folder in my documents. Do you see a line that says that you are missing a texture? more details here http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=21562. The missing texture is accessed randomly and since it does not exist, bf2 closes the application and causes CTD
