Hop on a tall enough building and no one will hear the shots. Go way out to the map edge and no one will hear the shots (camo also works better there too). Stay behind your team's lines and no one will hear the shots.

Snipers who keep crawling out of view don't get counter-sniped easily (and when you do, boohoo, it's probably after 3 kills anyway), so the only other situation is you're either sitting still shot after shot expecting not to die, or the enemy has moved in on your position, in which case you should have moved.

EDIT -- The irony in the squaddie role suggestion is that the most-griped-about rifles, the M95 and SVD/Type 88, are actually the best. The semi-autos are better mid-range and on the run, the M95 is a sure kill on anything that's been hit at least once.

Terribly sorry, but I dont like it. Will just promote more camping and would actually hurt the sniper's orientation to the team. PHPT is right, the best way for a sniper to be useful is to accompany a squad and actually cover them, not camp a rooftop and play duckhunt.

i just want to point out that the map also makes a factor in regarding the use of sniper kit.

i play wake mostly and also as a sniper most of the time just because of the way the map is set up.

other maps might not such be sniper friendly thats why they would be less effective bot even then they would not be useless (given that the player knows how to play of course...)

Hey to play sniper is not the easiest class and is a little more complicated than run and shoot. Claymores play a great role for traps. Even when the enemy is on the run you can pick them off as long as the dont zig zag. I look forward to arty drops.........Bliss.
