Yes, yes... I'm aware that there are ways to command while dead.

I've never seen it occur before where you couldn't spawn, had a free panning camera, and could still use the spot function as well as being able to command. It lasted a good 15 to 20 minutes before the round ended too.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the server option to turn on the Free Camera...very few servers actually HAVE it...

Lastnight I was continuing my campaign of command whorage when I got bombed while flipping into command mode. My body got blown skyhigh and just sorta hung there. I went to respawn, but I couldn't! I was ticked thinking I'd have to log off and back on (I'd already done that twice thanks to the red/blue bug and my rank not showing). Before I took that step, I hit CAPSLOCK just to see if I could maybe still use the command screen.

I could! I was very much dead, but I could still use all the command functions. Even better, I had a perfect birds-eye view over the CP I died at when I closed the command screen. Still dead, but I could look around and spot stuff. No shooting or movement, but what the hey? I had become an imortal and non-caporial commander!

Nothing quite like having a ghost for a commander.


Anyone else ever seen anything like this?

Yeah i was playing Assault on Karkand and i was killed by a guy driving an invisible Hummer, that was hilarious in itself, i turned only to see a man in a seated position, then i flew like 40 feet, and it said he teamkilled me, i heard the engine though and it was a HumV.

So anyways after flying the 40 feet, i couldnt shoot, but i was able to run around and call out orders, like needing meds or ammo, spotting tanks and stuff, it only lasted for a minute. I love this game. I chalk that instance up to poor PC specs really. Although the "ghost" issue is most likely a bug,,,,,,,,:laugh:

That's a cool one, I should try getting bombed as a commander more often. :)

there IS a way to be commander while dead.... i even did a movie about it... seems i can't find it anymore in the forums.. nobody cared and so it got lost ... feel free to look for it if you wish.. "commanding while dead"

I've had this happen a few times, but as a regular/squad leader. Not quite to the extent as the rest of y'all. I've been stuck on corners of buildings, but could still use the "j" command

I didn't get a pic, but I saw one of my teammates stuck in the ground up to his waist, lol

Wow! That's pretty cool. I havent seen anything like that before. They are adding invisibility to BF 2142, so you can be a ghost commander there too!

Ah yes... maybe that's what I saw. A "preview" version of bf2142. Ghosting super stealth cloak of anti-gravity! Roxorz!!

BTW, the invisa-cloak is the only thing I've seen in Bf3142 that kinda puts me off.

I have myself been stuck in the ground before, but until you said you saw someone, i didnt know if that was really what was going on. At standing stance, it was like I was prone, and I couldnt crouch or go prone and jumping only raised me up to crouching distance. Couldn't sprint either, but I could still shoot.

I died by being run over... I bet it looked pretty funny from the outside. Only ever had this once, and I "fell" into the ground on a slope... was quite strange.

I have had the exact same thing happen to me twice before, but when i looked at the screenshot it hadn't worked properly... may have been because i was too high up and could only see fog... it happened on fu she pass as well and i could see everything but i didn't get a screen...
