Most interesting Bug I've seen so-far

Lastnight I was continuing my campaign of command whorage when I got bombed while flipping into command mode. My body got blown skyhigh and just sorta hung there. I went to respawn, but I couldn't! I was ticked thinking I'd have to log off and back on (I'd already done that twice thanks to the red/blue bug and my rank not showing). Before I took that step, I hit CAPSLOCK just to see if I could maybe still use the command screen.

I could! I was very much dead, but I could still use all the command functions. Even better, I had a perfect birds-eye view over the CP I died at when I closed the command screen. Still dead, but I could look around and spot stuff. No shooting or movement, but what the hey? I had become an imortal and non-caporial commander!

Nothing quite like having a ghost for a commander.


Anyone else ever seen anything like this?

Wow! That's pretty cool. I havent seen anything like that before. They are adding invisibility to BF 2142, so you can be a ghost commander there too!

I saw something like that yesterday. On Songhua Stalemate, a squad leader was killed by artillery right in front of me, launching him on to the corner of a roof, however his name and squad number was floating from the edge of the roof. And even more wierd he still showed up on radar, until he respawned about two minutes later.

I saw something like that yesterday. That's a fairly common one. Could you still spawn on him? If not, he may have just gone AFK.

My oddball occurance also lasted the rest of the round. I couldn't spawn even though I was trying... until I discovered I still had all my command functions. Then I desided not to look this particular granted draft animal in the hay hole. :p

Nice you found this, but it's not new.

It's used in competition all the time. Usually, if you're shot by bullets, you can do it. You push your button to bring up your screen and right click twice and it should allow you to do your stuff.

If you're killed by arty, a tank, apc.. etc..., it shouldn't work.

I love how when Wargimp posts something everyone belives it but when i do no body does. :) just playing. But I have noticed quite a few bugs in commmander mode. The first being I joined a server and my name said i was a private but i could choose all my normal unlocks. Then I am a commander and cast an arty on 5 ppl. Kill them and it awards me a basic assualt combat badge. When I already have the vetern one. Im like wtf.

I donno what woulda happened if I was the last one left. I really was dead. I had a scary skull face thingy next to my name. I'm perty sure it woulda just ended the round.

Happens a lot wargimp..... There is a way to reproduce this bug; however, I have never attempted to manually cause this bug to happen because it gives you no advantage what so ever.

Well, as commander, it does make you immune to getting yer arse shot off while you are busy with the command screen. Plus, the way it happened to me, I was still able to look around and manually spot stuff while in my ghostly state.

I wouldn't attempt to replicate this bug 'cause I feel it would give an unfair advantage.

there IS a way to be commander while dead.... i even did a movie about it... seems i can't find it anymore in the forums.. nobody cared and so it got lost ... feel free to look for it if you wish.. "commanding while dead"
