Remember that thread where I so ignorantly stated that there was only 1 mountable gun on the aircraft carrier and that the carrier needed more?

And then you stated that there is another AA/railgun that nobody ever seems to use?

Well, I took your advice, wandered around to the other side of the 'bridge' and found it. Then I thought, "hmmmm, if nobody ever climbs in here then I'll bet the enemy planes never bother with it......" and jumped in....

It was great. The whole round I just sat there taking out enemy planes and helos while they kept focusing on the assets at the other end of the ship.

For posts directed at a single person, a PM would be much better suited. And the secondary AA on the carrier is only good if you're going against really nooby enemy pilots. Any pilot who knows what he's doing knows about that gun.

Huh???? I hope you don't mean the Phalanx + AAM set placed on the rear (Gulf of Oman, Wake Island, Zatar Wetlands in Vanilla) or on the second deck (Iron Gator in BF2:SF) of a carrier. How do you get to it from the flight deck in Vanilla BF2?

Its at the other end of the essex, on the main structure. How did you get in it? Either i'm really stupid.. or you can't because i've tried all the time to get in.

Yes, he means the USS Essex.

There's one on the back end by the runway, where the boats are directly underneath.

The other gun is about a quarter from the front sitting a floor above the main deck. Usually, next to the UAV station.

To get to it there's a ladder normally facing the UAV station.

Yeah, I realize the title is "PM" worthy. I wanted to thank rombaft but I thought maybe I'd share with others (just the lowly ones, not the all-knowing experts such as yourself) about how you can have some fun racking up some easy kills by sitting in the 'other' AA gun on the carrier.

Please forgive me for forcing you to read my post and wasting your time.

Yeah, I didn't make it the whole round without dying, but most of the time the enemy pilots would come in toward the rear end of the carrier trying to strafe the deck and then as they came around it would leave me "behind" them able to just fire away.


PS - I love using your modded localization files (now someone can 'slam' me for not posting this comment in the "Fun With Localization Files" thread too)

your welkom , and reading in the post here, there seem to be more people who dodn't know there was a second one on the shi^p , also he is harder to take out by enemy planes and they don't aim for it

You actually enter it through the missile pods (not sure if thats the right name for them) press "e" - see image -

Yeah, I wish I could edit the thread title but "oh well". I just hoped that everyone would be just as nosey as I would be if I saw that title and come on in. :p

no not the essex , the other ship in the game ... u know the fun ship , white with a big red and blue carnival logo on it?
