Why would anyone want to flame him? He has a very valid thread and problem that faces many an admin. I feel for the many GOOD admins that WANT to please the masses but simply cannot due to the ROE. We all want a game that we can simply log on and play a slag fest for a whole 30 mins+. But due to the rules as set by dice and ea, we must make do with what we have.

I do not agree they cant kick/ban anyone for no reason(only if he cheat)
The game was out for 7 months(something like that) and there is too many good players only few newbs who always complain when they got owned by an expert.
Yesterday i flash one guy on Wake Island and he call me a cheater -(that's the newbs i'm talkin about) and good players should not get kicked/banned for that.

        Re: Can/should i kick a good players ?

Maybe just nudge certain players like that guy who has nothing in his/her sniper scope for what seems like forever to move around or go to an action zone or try to get people to squad up or maybe instead of a 64 map try a 32 map with 64 if they allow that to get people away from that uber plane or helo.
Since it's a ranked you can't dictate gameplay so don't expect anyone to play smart but some nudges towards people who have pitched a tent in the middle of no place might be a good idea.

And why are some of you guys playing ranked servers for a total frag fest? I know their arent many but i think a couple of servers run with a very large player number with a small map (16 size)
herd mentality? Or just plain stupidity?

If one is sick of the RoE than why not play with out the RoE? I think those unranked servers can have all the unlocks open and their are alternate stat systems.
So do the rank points for smashing and bashing n00bs (Define n00b: n00b = Moron or Idiot) get players any closer to Nirvana? I really don't think so.:hmm:

So basicaly, don't like the RoE? Don't play EA-Ranked.
If a player isn't contribuiting to a battle ask them nicely. If they sit around kick em for being idle to make room for a player and not a sitter.

triumph69420 ..... I am trying to help EA adapt the ROE so that all of THIER customers get what they ask for.

I'm not on about if we should abide by ROE or not. I want to abide by a ROE that is helpful to us all having better more enjoyable games. 11 minute rounds do not fall into this category.

            Re: Can/should i kick a good players ?

            Contradiction?
If you are really trying to help EA do anything to satisfy the customers (be they players or server admins) than the idea kicking a good player isn't going to get you anyplace.
That reasoning seems futile to me.

The current ROE can't make everyone happy because people want people to play for themself or for the win just overall. And with the current rule set that is imposible on a ranked server because this EA ranking system is made to allow the freedom to play in what can be considered as a stupid manner and one can argue that because an infantry unit can't be a hard counter to a certain armor/air unit that if some one actualy has the skill to rape that it may be imposible to stop a player from commiting rape because of the game or map design.

It's imposible to give everyone a good time when a good time is an easy kill or always winning. It's a bad situation which i say by design isn't made to please everyone and thats why people who need or want something else should not be like sheep or cows and just stick to what displeases them so very much. That may be an unranked server or a mod or another game. By design these rules can't please everyone.

              Re: Can/should i kick a good players ?

I've learned from this thread. I thought as an admin you had more control over the teams. It would make sense that if the automatic balancing stacks up against a team then the admin could step in and move players from one side to the other.
I quite likebeing on the underdog team because it's great when you turn it round, but on some maps it becomes impossible for the game to 'start'. For example being held at the carrier and raped repeatedly by jets and artillery, annoys. Wake island becomes quake island and surely that is a reason to stomp your big administrator's boot and kick the offenders.

As it stands without being able to remove those who you feel are upsetting the balance of the map, it looks like you'll just have to suffer it.

Does it happen on all non infantry maps?

Do you find that your 'top gun' pilots leave when there are no planes in the next map?

The only suggestion i didnt answer was the "reducing server players from 64".

I cannot see multiplay being happy that EA are encouraging server owners to reduce the size of their server, thus resulting in £ lost revenue for MPUK. A 64 player server costs a lot more than a 32.
Actually I think he meant to limit the number of people so that the server isn't full - that way the game will take longer. If you get a 32-man server that is full, the game will go just as quickly. But a mostly-full server will take longer than a completely-full server.

                  Re: Can/should i kick a good players ?

The only way to guarantee a game will last longer is to lower the player count "substantially"

We run 50 players on 64 but... we rarely get 30+ minute games either. It took me ages to get the combat infantry medal and the only requirement I needed was 34 minutes IAR.

The only way to almost guarantee 30+ minute rounds is to have 16 on 64 player maps.

The other way you could do it if the teams were stacked skill wise is to even the skill up on both sides.

I know its a dilema for sure we have the same problem and the last atleast 10 rounds I have played recently our side won every game by over 200 tickets.

That is an impossible task. You will never make everyone happy at the same time. The very fact that you say an 11 minute round isn't enjoyable proves my point, there are just as many people who will say they love fast rounds.

You do realize that tickets lost and points earned are not the same thing right? From the way you phrased that it sounds like you are saying that someone earning 100 points means 100 tickets lost from the other team, and that is not the case. The sum of all the scores does not equal the amount of tickets taken from the opposing team.

Tickets are only lost when someone dies without being revived, and from ticket bleed based on control of the map. When you get a kill you get two points, at most the other team will lose one ticket. If a medic revives the killed person there will be no ticket lost at all but the other guy will still get his two points. You can also score lots of team points but these have no direct relation to tickets at all, except for as far as putting the other team into ticket bleed if you have enough flags.

                    *edit*

One other thing, the current 300 ticket cap for 64 player servers is really odd and I don't think they really thought that through at DICE when they came up with it. On a 16 player server you get 100 tickets per side. On a 32 player server you get 200 tickets per side (makes sense, you double the number of players you double the number of tickets, keeps the ratio the of players to tickets the same). But then when you step up to a 64 player server you again double the number of players but you only get 50% more tickets per side than a 32 player server. Server size increases exponentially but ticket count follows a linear growth. The correct ticket count for 64 player servers should have been 400 tickets, someone at DICE needs a few more math classes. As it stands, a full 64 player server will almost always be the fastest game situation you can have (unless you are using smaller maps than your player count, like 32 people on a 16 player map). Full 16 and 32 player servers have a higher ticket to player ratio and will typically provide longer games.

LOOK !!! The kicking players remark was just to get your attention to an issue that is limiting the larger servers.

We need to get EA to answer the question, why cant we have battles that last for 30+mins on our ranked servers. Not too much to ask is it ?

<<R2>>Capt.HKS whats the point paying 25% more £ for a 64 player over a 50 player when your going to limit it to 50 ?

Maybe i should reduce our server to a 50 player, maybe thats the only answer ?

I was playing last night against a really good jet pilot. I pretty much suck in a jet, but I got up there anyway and distracted him enough to keep him from constantly bombing our troops. Points is, there are ways to at least keep really good players at bay. And no....you should not ban good players. Get out there and give em hell.

I know what you are saying Skunk. We pay for a fully dedicated server, not a shared multiple instance laggy piece of crap server like all the rest. It nearly equates to twice as much as a regular 64 player server and then we limit it to 50 players.

What we find with 50 players over 64 is there is better chances for good teamwork. This then can allow games to last longer if both sides are using good teamwork or if only one side is then the games can finish just as quickly as if there were 64 players. You do have the benefit of slightly better ticket to player ratios but really it doesn't make to much of a difference in game length in that area.

Like I said the only way to guarantee 30+ minute games is 16 players on 64 player maps.
