    Can/should i kick a good players ?

**I've edited the title so as not to confuse .

    ***RANKED SERVERS ONLY***

Hi, bit of a question for you all.

Our 64 server is doing well, great even. But the problem is games only last on average 10-30 minutes. Lots of players complain about how quick it goes.

The problem is some players have perfected the game, theyre that good. Either in the choppers, planes or armour, whichever theyve perfected they get good scores at. Not their fault is it ?

With the tickets capped at 300 and one good player on each side taking 100pts+ each finishes the game before you can plan anything.

What do i do ? Kick the couple of good players to keep the majority happy ?
Am i allowed to do that ?

...............Ok although thats my dilema, i wont be kicking any good players, just wanted to make my point so we can talk about it here and hopefully get an answer to why we cant have longer games.

IS THIS WAR ? OR JUST A 15 MINUTE SCRATCH AND SLAP FEST ?

Don't flame him...I know most of you will get very frustrated when you read this post, but don't flame him. If you have something constructive to say, go ahead, if not, move along.

To the poster: I think you shouldn't ban them. It's not professional.

actualy it is against the official ROE, is it fair, I don't think so .

but I do understand the dilemma you got , I think a solution is, instead of alowing 64 people on the server, you only let 50 people on the server , this way the round will last longuer, but offcourse the battle can get less intensive .

another thing is , there will always be someone on your server who is good or become good, then kick him to , kinda not nice, the moment you start to be a very good player the server kicks you, with the result you get a noob server.

another solution is.... try to find more good players, so the pro's can take out the pro's and they keep eachother a bit busy

lol nobody told you to kick anyone. He just told you, if you get more good players, they ll balance each other.

As the game stands atm thats not a viable answer really.

Just because you have 10-15 good players out of 64, it doesnt mean theyre all on opposite sides.

If team balance was more rank orientated, so that high ranked players are split more evenly it would probably be ok.

But it isnt, team balance is viscous, it can really overload one team with high ranks sometimes, result is an 11 minute game, PATHETIC !

Ok.... so now ive knocked down your suggestions as flawed, anymore?

don't think there are anymore solutions then , or you kick the (to) good players , or you will keep the same problem.

Maybe you should register at the forums of www.bf2rankedservers.com , and there you can make sugestions for changing the ROE and stuff, you can suggest there to make the ROE about tickets a bit mroe loose , for example now as a ranked server you have to use 100% ticket rate, explain your problem and suggest if it is possible for in the future to allow a 20% deviation on the ticket rate,, you you could use a max ticket rate of 120% , or 110% if you want or even 80% , see what they have to say

there isn't anything more you can do about it

I will register and post on the forum then.

I may link to this page.

The only suggestion i didnt answer was the "reducing server players from 64".

I cannot see multiplay being happy that EA are encouraging server owners to reduce the size of their server, thus resulting in £ lost revenue for MPUK. A 64 player server costs a lot more than a 32.

Is the ticket cap really 300?? i'm sure i have played on a 64 ranked server with 500 tickets...game went for an hour, the timer ran out b4 tickets hit zero but the server wasn't fully populated. i got 63 kills as assault but it dint give me my expert combat...so maybe it werent ranked, i dunno i'll shut up now, sorry

                      Re: Can/should i kick a good players ?

When i clicked on the thread name on the forums front page i was afraid of what i was going to find, but this is a good thread afterall. Thanks to maranello for the pre-emptive strike against flamers :).

The problem is real. For example if theres only one decent jet pilot on Oman and he has even a moderate guy as a gunner in his F-15, the round can be pretty much a nightmare for everyone else (on the other team).

Would be nice if there was a way to limit the skill level of players thet are allowed to a certain server but how can u do that when theres no reliable way to measure it? And what about that superb chopper pilot who owns everyone on Dalian plant? Would it be right to kick him if the next map is going to be Karkand where everyone would own him in turn as infantry :S ?

In the worst case scenario, if u have a couple of good guys on the server killing eachother, they'll to switch to the same team eventually, because they think everyone else on their team is crap, and so the problem is even worse :P

I don't mean to sound like a Negative Nelly here but it really can be a problem without a good solution (though i've never repeatedly ran into that problem).

                      Good luck with your server!

                        Re: Can/should i kick a good players ?

The solution to this type of problem was implemented in Halo2 on Xbox live... where players request to join a game and players of simliar ranks are grouped up then connected to the host.

This also works for groups where a bunch of friends can play together by forming a party, this way groups of equal ranks and skills are put together in game.

The gaps are then filled in by the lonewolfs with similar ranks / skill level.

There should be an option for this type of public play in BF2 like the auto join, i.e. auto join a server of equal ranks .

I think that's got to be one of the best solutions get them to let you raise the ticket count. I completely understand why the ticket count is the way it is if you raised the tickets to say 1000 it would take properly 2 hours of none stop playing to get the gold medal. But as it stands anyway on a small map with 16 players the round can be over in 5 minutes but on a big map 64 man server it can take 30 to 45 minutes. So IMO they may as well let you raise the ticket count id have no problems playing on a server with a ticket count of 1000 I'm not after the gold medals anyway they mean nothing. And they nearly always go to the tank/plane/heli whore on the server not the ground pounders that are doing most of the work. I just wish there was a simplier soloution for the guy that started this thread.

Server admins pay over 250 dollars a month for the server. They can kick whoever the hell they want. I've been kicked for no reason before, not even to let in an admin.
