Latest patch is 1.22, not 1.21.

Download the full version and patch it. If it works, but hitches and lags during loading, then completely uninstall BF2 (and any other programs you don't use, need), defrag your HD, and then reinstall:

vBF2-->SF-->1.22-->EF

(you may need to install 1.2 before installing EF; can't remember off the top of my head)

I find that defragmenting speeds things up during loading significantly.

Thank you all of you. I have solved the problem. I hate the way it was resolved but I found no alternatives.

I uninstalled SF and BF2 in that sequence from the Control Panel. Then I went into the registry and removed HKLM/SOFTWARE/My Company Name. After that I rebooted.

Then I installed
1) Installed BF2 vanilla version
2) Patched it with 1.03
3) Installed Special Force
4) Patched it with 1.12
5) Patched it with 1.12->1.2
6) Patched it with 1.2->1.21
7) Patched it with 1.22

I never put in EF. Actually, I played it before the reinstallation, not very my cup of tea. Now it works fine.

I think this is the order in which everything came out. Can anyone confirm where I put in EF and the whole list? (this is absurd, but good to know)

Why do you folks want to apply every patch? vBF2-->SF-->1.2-->EF-->1.22 should work fine. You may even be able to do the full 1.22 before EF. Not sure...but why patch to 1.03, 1.12, yada, yada. Playing the game is supposed to be the fun part, not applying the patches!

In all honesty, I do not trust other download sites. But then, EA downloader is very slow at this end. It took 4 hours to download EF.

Does it matter if you install the 1.22 patch before you install SF?

It may not cause your the trouble of not running SF. But the bug fix may not be effective.

I had the same issue and so did my room mate... we both just ran the full 1.22 patch again.. It worked ..we can both get into the EUro Force maps again. I tried this aproach rather than rushing into uninstalling..reinstalling everything.

I will find a time when the EA servers are not busy, so to obtain the full patch using less time.
