I got BF2 last Thursday and i cannot get to grips with it at all: confused: . The basics i get as the controls are more or less the same as the old battlefield games so that wasnt a problem.

I just cant get to grips with it and i am desperate need of some tips, as i get constantly owned by artillery and UAVs
Even as alone sniper that is near our base in Karkand, I get arty on me. I am honored when a comander fears me soo much that it what me killed besides the slew of guys killing his solders .

One thing you can do is be Spec op and take the UAV. You can also see above where UAV is on you.

My best advise is to join a squad and travel together using VOIP. My best matches have been in a squad with that tactic.

And of course, it takes practice and some time to see how others play also.

        1) Getting owned by everyone, all the time, until you get used to things, and even then, having a K-D of 2:1 means you're almost godlike.

        2) Getting owned by enemy artillery whenever things are going really well, or you're in the middle of a great firefight.

        3) Getting raped by friendly artillery whenever you try to cap a flag.

        4) Having no hearing behind you, almost no vision to the sides, and you can only run 50 yards before getting so tired you can't move even when under fire, but you always have a magical ability to jump 2 meters straight into the air, even when you're loaded down with 30 kilos of gear.

        5) Getting knifed in the face, despite the fact that you're shooting an LMG straight into the other guy's face. Because his knife does more damage than 2 rounds of 7.62. Riiiiight....

        6) Shooting bursts from your LMG into a cluster of enemy soldiers, but you can only kill one before the other 4 jump in the air, drop to the ground, roll over, pull out their own LMGs, and immediately own you with headshots.

        7) Shooting a guy with your .50 caliber Barret M95 sniper rifle, and even though you hit him in the chest and he only has 2 bars left, he keeps running around, jumping magically over walls, and then drops, rolls, spins around three times, pulls out his fully automatic 12 gauge, and owns you with 7 shots to the face.

        8) Shooting another guy with your Accuracy International sniper rifle, which even though it's chambered in 7.62 or .338 Lapua, does exactly the same damage as a .50 cal. (Huh? Yeah, me too). Anyway, because this guy you're shooting had twisted his ankle while running down a slope a minute before you found him, and because that foot is now magically protruding through that concrete wall he's hiding behind, you can shoot him in his Achilles Tendon and take him out. "Boom! Footshot baybee!"

        9) The view when veryone on every server is dropping to their knees over you in order to shake their imaginary testicles in your face after they head-shot you from 50 meters with a pistol after jumping out of a jeep that was flying through the air before it blew up right next to them. Apparently, there is a subculture in the BF2 community that enjoys what appears to be some sort of homosexual mating dance... "Hey, like my package? Check my package! PM me after the match, dude!"

        10) Picking up a TK punish whenever a team member does any of the following, all of which result in instant death, even though multiple hits from a .50 cal machine gun are "walk-away wounds": he walks in front of your car, airplane, tank, or swims anywhere near the back of your boat; he stands anywhere underneath your helo as you attempt to hover low enough for him to jump in; he gets hit by any debris from any aircraft that you shoot down, any vehicle that you blow up, or any backsplash from any vehicle that you were the last to damage, which then blows up when he walks nearby...

It's a fantastic game, and it proves the truth of what Einstein said about the infinite nature of the universe and human stupidity... he was unsure only of the former.
        LMAO

My advice. . . Practice alot. And if your really bad play on "singleplayer" for a while.

If you see someone with a bigger gun than you, run and be sure to leave a welcoming trail of grenades behind.

Re: Any tips for a new BF2 player?

well im new (just made lance crpl) but even i have seen the effects of inept commanders shooting arty everywhere but where they need to. This past sunday, in KAW on karkand i was usmc adn mec had all the control points but trainwreck and gatehouse. so of course everyone is spawning there and mec is continually attacking the wreck. well our great commander keeps artying the damn bridge so noone can get across. then our squad gets and order to trudge all the way across the map to take out the the enemy arty. im like wtf. you take the enemy arty with OUR arty!!!! this aint rocket science. So i pick up an engineer kit and try and fix the bridge while there is a lull in the action. Im thinking lets get a tank across or a bradley and own some mofos but what does the commander do? he arties the bridge again just as i repair it.
            anyway, we lost the round........................
