We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Just joing a squad and follow the squad leader. They usually know what they are doing. Then, if you die, just respawn on him/her.
also, it's generally easier to start out as support (medic or support). Just follow your squad and revive them, give them ammo, etc. Once you are more confident with the maps and general capping strategies, go anti-tank or spec ops/assault and contribute to the offensive side of things.
but in the end, the only way to figure out what to do is to just play for a long time. We all got owned when we began, but after a couple of months you begin to anticipate peoples' movements, know the secret tricks/hideouts, general routes, etc..it just takes time to learn most of the general things.
Actually I'm pretty sure it just says
stupidn00bsniper is no more.
That's what it said when I got killed by a supply crate yesterday. I wasn't even sniping. I just happened to run right underneath a falling crate. What are the odds?
Play every kit at least once to see what they offer. Whatever kit seems to be your favorite, stick with it and try to generate points by using it the right way. Always join a squad, but search for good squads so you can follow they're lead and learn what they know. If you like to fly, I suggest joining servers with very few people on them so you can learn without being shot down every second. I would say I mostly enjoy having a good squad pack into a quick vehicle or heli and speed around capping flags behind enemy lines. On defense it's always nice to have an apc or tank.
I managed to get 6 kills in a row on a server earlier on today! I honestly thought I was dreaming
The most annoying thing now for me is the constant "out of nowhere" shots that people seem to nail me with, I mean I aint a noob ffs, i dont go running around shooting i always take care planning my movements across the map, its as if the game is mocking me continously
No matter how good you were at 1942 or Vietnam, get used to:
1) Getting owned by everyone, all the time, until you get used to things, and even then, having a K-D of 2:1 means you're almost godlike.
2) Getting owned by enemy artillery whenever things are going really well, or you're in the middle of a great firefight.
3) Getting raped by friendly artillery whenever you try to cap a flag.
4) Having no hearing behind you, almost no vision to the sides, and you can only run 50 yards before getting so tired you can't move even when under fire, but you always have a magical ability to jump 2 meters straight into the air, even when you're loaded down with 30 kilos of gear.
5) Getting knifed in the face, despite the fact that you're shooting an LMG straight into the other guy's face. Because his knife does more damage than 2 rounds of 7.62. Riiiiight....
6) Shooting bursts from your LMG into a cluster of enemy soldiers, but you can only kill one before the other 4 jump in the air, drop to the ground, roll over, pull out their own LMGs, and immediately own you with headshots.
7) Shooting a guy with your .50 caliber Barret M95 sniper rifle, and even though you hit him in the chest and he only has 2 bars left, he keeps running around, jumping magically over walls, and then drops, rolls, spins around three times, pulls out his fully automatic 12 gauge, and owns you with 7 shots to the face.
8) Shooting another guy with your Accuracy International sniper rifle, which even though it's chambered in 7.62 or .338 Lapua, does exactly the same damage as a .50 cal. (Huh? Yeah, me too). Anyway, because this guy you're shooting had twisted his ankle while running down a slope a minute before you found him, and because that foot is now magically protruding through that concrete wall he's hiding behind, you can shoot him in his Achilles Tendon and take him out. "Boom! Footshot baybee!"
9) The view when veryone on every server is dropping to their knees over you in order to shake their imaginary testicles in your face after they head-shot you from 50 meters with a pistol after jumping out of a jeep that was flying through the air before it blew up right next to them. Apparently, there is a subculture in the BF2 community that enjoys what appears to be some sort of homosexual mating dance... "Hey, like my package? Check my package! PM me after the match, dude!"
10) Picking up a TK punish whenever a team member does any of the following, all of which result in instant death, even though multiple hits from a .50 cal machine gun are "walk-away wounds": he walks in front of your car, airplane, tank, or swims anywhere near the back of your boat; he stands anywhere underneath your helo as you attempt to hover low enough for him to jump in; he gets hit by any debris from any aircraft that you shoot down, any vehicle that you blow up, or any backsplash from any vehicle that you were the last to damage, which then blows up when he walks nearby...
It's a fantastic game, and it proves the truth of what Einstein said about the infinite nature of the universe and human stupidity... he was unsure only of the former.
