You have to remember loading and verifiying speeds differ if you use lower graphics settings, and sound settings etc.

but 5 seconds lol smells funny

About 2/3 minutes for me. But since installing EF it's more like 4/5. I'm so sick of hearing those loading songs!

Maybe he is playing on a Linux based server. Pure Mode (content check) doesn't work (or isn't available) on Linux. It looks like it is checking because you get the content check for a few seconds, but it does that by default until the server replies back and says it isn't doing it.

About 1 m 30 secs from clicking on game to clicking join game but I do have a lot of crap running in the background.
8mb or 16mb cache on a harddrive has negligible influence nor does SATA over IDE drives.

Um, not much if u don't have a good CPU too. What CPU do u have? Cause a FX-5500 era system probably won't benefit too much from 2 gigs of ram.

If your host has you on a ****y server yes but we've done extensive testing on this.. comparing 1gb ram vs 2gb ram and having more than 1gb ram increases your map load times significantly.

Sporadic at times but take a look for yourself. Anyone that has 1GB ram or less. Load up BF2 and after a while alt_tab out of your game and check your resources. :shock:

Like 2 minutes on a new game load, because of my ****ty and slow HD, but I'm getting another gig of ram hopefully in a few weeks :).

for me more than half is verifying.

although load times have seemed very fast of late, even when loading a map i havent played for a day.

are euro force maps faster to load and verify? seems like it. i would be around a minute, 50 seconds or so, medium settings with 6600 AGP and 1 gig of ram, 2.6 ghz p4 hyperthreaded.

even so, i think 1.12 SF actually ran better than 1.21 EF does now.... strange eh?

the fast loading is nice, but ever since a random day in 1.12 ive had stutters for a while after joining an online game.

some people say its loading the map, but ive seen that before rarely, and thats lag, not the strange stutters.

its like every second it goes click and freezes for a split second. more annoying than lag if possible.

sometimes its over in a few seconds, sometimes takes a minute or more.
