Re: A simple solution to the claymore problem

As an engineer, I clean up poorly placed claymores all the time. I magically get behind them and repair them away. Or I just drive an armored vehicle in front of them. It does no damage to the vehicle, and I have just cleared the way for my squad.
The only reason people whine about claymores is they don't have good situational awareness. You have to realize that an IED (clay)could be anywhere. At least in this game a medic can revive you, or you respawn in 15 seconds. It doesn't work that way in real life.

what made claymores more usefull is that you can not blow them up (you can use the spanner on them to remove them tho but you need to behind them)

in pre 1.2 you used to be able to drop an nad next to it or c4 it (quite sure you could) after 1.2 patch you can drop 5 lumps of C4 on it and it will still be there that ant so real

yes but you can thow your self over an claymore but how does that do the team any good if your all dead (trying to get out of the flag we have left)

Re: A simple solution to the claymore problem

there sure are a bunch of babies in this forum. A game in Sharqi, a sniper laid a claymore at the entrance to the T.V. Station near the stairs. I ran into it. As I laid there dead I see him run down and lay another. Ok, so he's chilling there laying claymores and his buddy is throwing ammo packs, don't go there anymore. problem solved, no more kills for him... You can avoid claymores. and most of the time you will see a sniper before you sneak up on him, you should be wiry and look for the claymores.

but yes, claymores should be able to be destroyed. as well as mines. if you lay them in the open then they should be able to be destroyed, i hide all my mines and claymores.

you can't use tanks if there inside the building
not bothed about 1-4 claymores i talking about when you got 10-20 of them around the same spot as what happend last night

blowing them up should be in the game

It's a misconception that you have to be behind a claymore to disarm it. It's just that the circumstances for staying alive in front of one are rare.

I have had lazy spawncampers lay clays on my spawnpoint, facing me. If you don't move, you can drop to the prone and repair it without setting it off. Also, when a clay is first dropped there is an arming delay. I can't count how many times a sniper tried to clay me in close quarters. I just shotgun them to the face, drop in the prone, and wrench that sucker away.
The hard part is staying 100% still. My buddy and I made a local server to check this out, and those clays have a long range and kill radius. Have to get lucky to disarm from the front. However, "n00b" snipers just drop them out in the open. How hard is it to get an engie behind it to get rid of it?

I think all the kits should go away and we should just duke it out. No, wait! Knuckles hurt and knock you out....so how about arm-wrestling? No, wait! Some poor schmuck will argue he should be allowed to use left hand vs right hand....so how about spitting? No, wait! The saliva-imparred will revolt...what to do, what to do?!?!?!?! Guess you should just stop playing.

                Hey - it´s (simulated) war - so -
everything ist allowed if it makes you win !

                Deal with it,
get use of those two things called "eyes"
and if you die from one of those,
                it´s your mistake......

and you should get some punishment from
your Leader for not fighting while youre dead ;-)

                -
I Love to use them - i dont care if anyone is thinking "thats lame"´
they are a good tool to canalise(?) the enemy the way i want to.....

Claymores used that way are indeed cheap kills, but that's not a good way to end up with a decent score.

Claymores used defensively or actively (actively as in you need to reload and the guy is about to charge around the corner and pound your face in so you drop a claymore then reload) lead to much better survivability and overall score.

If it REALLY bothers you that much, play engineer -- you can defuse a claymore before it arms if you see the sniper drop it, and if it's armed approach it from the back (curved away from you) side.

Personally, I think engineers who pick claymores up should be able to re-set them somewhere else.

That would be pretty sweet. Stealing enemy claymores and putting them facing the other way or something.

Why take the claymores away from the Sniper's kit? I would agree if they buffed up the zoom and accuracy of the sniper rilfes, but until then absolutely not.

claymore problem, there is no problem. Stop running around on the battlefield like your playing UT It not the same game. You have to watch where you are going.

                          1. seperate them from mines.
                          2. sv.friendlyfirewithmines 0
                          3. sv.friendlyfirewithclaymores 1

sovled. Or scratch #3 and make them destructible again. Seeing countless hallways clogged with claymores and noone around is lame. I prefer to get my kills face to face.

LOL,I'm sorry but his thread is way too funny:)One of my favorite tactics as an assault sniper is to show myself at the corner of a building, then run back a few paces and drop a clay.Never fails to get the(I'm gonna get me an easy kill)noobs.Or,as an advanced scout sniper,I will "booby"trap enemy transportation such as choppers,tanks,etc....Remove claymores? Are you daft?Make them destructible yes.The M95 which was designed for long range detonation of ordinance such as mines, unexploded mortar rounds and the like should have this ingame capability along with grenades, tank rounds or 20mm bursts from the LAV.IMHO.

I'm going to go with no.
If they eliminated the claymore, snipers that did snipe would get knifed all day long. Just learn to watch for those little deadly black boxes.

in a (balanced)squad it wont be a problem, you have engineers or a medic which will revive you if you die.. put still.. i HATE the guys running like a mad cow with there claymores trying 2 get cheap kills.. snipers are the coolest (atleast i think so) kit there is, just waiting for hours, days (mayb months) 2 kill a single enemy and then relize they are @ the wrong place... aint that just great?
