Man, you guys sure do complain alot for a game you play that is the best military FPS on the market and its free to play server wise. Wow...just wow. Atleast your not paying 30 bucks a month like some WoW loser or SWG player. All you can think about is a buggy game? Remeber where your at. You are at totalBF2.com, a BF fansite, not a BF bash site. Get with the program.

The best was DC. I don't play this game anymore, because to me, it has been nerfed to **** and the amount of content in it is crap when you compare the game as a whole to either BF42/BFV/DC.

Servers are not free, someone has to pay for them, usually clans.

People are entitled to their opinions, even when they are not on the same line of thought as yours.

Now onto the rest of the topic...

The funny thing with them using the core BF2 engine, is the BF2 engine (Refractor2) is really just an upgraded version of the BF42 Refractor engine. This is obvious and apparant when you look at the bugs that exist in BF42/BFV and manifest themselves in BF2 (feet sticking through walls, getting inside static objects etc). Think about this for moment... three game releases later and those bugs still exist, it gives you a disappointing outlook on the next game when you see it from that perspective.

            Well, not quite "all"....

It seems to me that they are really disconnected from the typical community desires with this one. They came out with a historical based game (1942) and we snapped it up. Then arguably the most popular mod for 1942 was the modern based themed desert combat one.

So they came out with a modern based game (BF2) and we snapped it up.

Now most of the mods STILL seem to be historical or modern based which makes me think that this is the genre we prefer to play. So what do they decide to go with next?...one based on the future :hmm:

It looks like they just reused the BF2 engine and just added new models and maps. I bet a mod could replicate the same things shown in the video.

Why do they have to replace my M16, M4, and Ak with plasma rifles and laser guns? Why? I hate futuristic guns there just gay. Even the M8 when it was first used in GR2, I hated it because of how futuristic it looked. I want more realism not make believe ****.

                    I won't be buying this.

They should make a BETTER engine, go back to 1942. After people get tired of that, make a real Vietnam game. Then if people want this weird stuff do it.

We're looking at more than a hundred years worth of technological development here... take into account that it took us less time than that to go from inventing the steam engine to landing on the fruggin moon.

What's seems hokey today could be the realities of tomorrow.

I didn't see any rayguns in that preview... only shell chuckers with funcky colored muzzel flashes. That's likely the way future weapon's development is going to go. We haven't progressed much in terms of ammunition development since the days of powder keys and big led balls. This is starting to change, tho.

One idea I've seen kicked around (I do too much research into "futuretec") is a plasma round that could be usuable in the standard firearms of today. All it is is a highly charged capasitor placed between the bullet and the delivery charge (the gunpowder). The bullet itself would be alluminum based with an iron (or other ferric metal) core. What happens is when you fire, the gunpowder crushes the capasitor which causes to release it's charge amplified to a remarkable level. That charge goes into the bullet and superheats the alluminum causing it to become plasmic. The iron core helps contain the plasmic gas.

                      *poof*
Ya got yourself a belivable, practical plasma rifle with no magical goofy BS.

I really hope Dice takes this route and goes with real extentions of technology rather than desending into George Lucian psudo-magical goofyness.

I see were your comin from but I wasnt sayin it was like Star Wars I was being a littel sarcastic. I'm just not liking how its in the future. But it would be better if they actually stuck to real extensions of technology. Battlefield should stick to Past, present and near future, like ten years ahead of what year we are in now.

Concidering your stat, you have put about 324 hours into this game. If its so buggy and your so dissapointed, why didnt you stop after.. say 200 hours?

Its not like someone is forcing you to buy it, alltho you might loose 300 hours of new entertainment if you dont. You can allways play Karkand another 90 hours..

..or just use the money to rent 10 videos - thats at least 15 hours of entertainment..

For the most part, I agree. I wasn't thrilled to see mechs in there. biped machines will never have the mobility, flexibility, or stability of tracked conventional tanks.

I hope to see some conventional tanks in there. Maybe make 'em work as a foil to the mechs... mechs being more mobile and tanks packing more firepower.

I do like the design of their "hover craft" which are actually somewhat believable. Vectored thrust technology is currently making leaps and bounds in terms of progress. They even got the rough shape of the engines sorta right. The aerospike inverse bell is the optimal shape for vectored thrust output and the angling of the engines looks nice 'n stable.

I hate the invisability cloak. It's something that never works well as a game mechanic and not something that you can explain in terms of realworld. The closest thing to it is this:

That's a parlor trick with NO practical aplication.
It only works when the viewer is aligned specificly to the single point of projection. It's really nothing more than wearing a movie screen with a camera mounted on your back.
                            PT Barmum would be proud.
