I just checked my mail today and there was a copy of the May edition of PC Gamer in there. The featured game...yes Battlefield 2142. The article says that this war will take place in 136 years from now. The world is in the dawn of a new ice age and there is limited land left. It will be USA/Europe vs Russia/India/Middle East. Mechs well be added to the game and no there will not be lazers. There was mostly speculation in the article, but the game is suppose to use the BF2 engine and has an expected release date of 2006. Classes have been cut down to 4 with 2 sub classes each. A lot of the insperation seems to of come from mainstream movies and other 22nd century shooters. I don't know the full details but I'd keep a look out at E3 this year.

India currently is part of the british commonwealth, and has very strong ties with the brits and yanks.

just came from the PC Gamer website. nobody really even knows for sure what it is from everything i found on the forums. it's still all speculation according to the forums, but they did link a video with a very nice mech in it, which looked to have the BF2 engine, and it said it was a DICE video. though, you know how easy that is to spoof.Comment

def not a mod...wouldn't be the cover story and they wouldn't have seen the alpha from dice sweden.
Also...i think theres 4 classes but 2 sub classes for each....
IE... Support Class
Sub1 Medic
Sub2 Engineer
I'd hook up my webcam and take some pics but that would violate copyright laws prolly and not something I want to do.Comment

also, if its not star wars than sci fi its gay. its got to be realistic and current or recent history, or its not battlefield.
i dont want the battlefield history being tarnished by some fruity mech game played by 11 year olds who like those gay gundams and everything.
and 100 years in the future mechs wouldnt exist, it would be tanks without crews, aircraft without crews and strange types of cruise missiles and mines that would be war, not some fruity walking thing straight out of a gay xbox game.Comment

Bear has a point. mechs are most likely being worked on, but why would they risk a soldier in a mech when they can send in automated tanks and aircraft? one day, all the use of the human population will have is to polish the machines when they're not in use.Comment
