Even if such an option would be implemented, you could still play on servers without that option being enabled.
So what's YOUR freaking problem, man?? :p

If YOU want to play the game public without using the built-in command system then do it, but don't tell other people that they have to live with the fact that they have a disadvantage if they stick with the command system and VoIP.

No, it just means that it wasn't intended. Way to jump to conclusions there bub. There are several precedents to an an accidental feature becoming a part of gameplay. Day of Defeat has the nade priming where you could throw a grenade at the ground and pick it up to cook it off. This has in later versions been introduced at a button level. The quake games have strafe jumping. At first it was an engine glitch and now it's coded in on purpose.

          1. I personally don't see it as a disadvantage, as I can do it myself, still I think it's boring and it sucks

          2. There a people out there who use VoIP to spontaneously meet people on the battlefield and talk to them. These people might also talk to the commander and use the built-in command system. They cannot squadhop if they don't want to lose the ability to communicate conveniently. OK they could ask each other to go into some TeamSpeak channel, but the probability that all the people in your squad (who you didn't even know half an hour ago) have TeamSpeak and know how to use it is pretty low.

Visual commands have several advantages above spoken commands: If you miss the spoken command, you missed it! If you miss the visual command initially - who cares, you can still see it later, as it remains visible until a new order arrives (if the SL doesn't cycle). No matter how intense the action is, it's nearly impossible to miss the orders given through the built-in command system.

So it''s the player choice to use that systeem instead teamspeak or something . that you don't have a disadvangte because the freaking player choose for it.

and about the commands. it doesn't matter because if squad already is squadhopping then they are good organized people.

            and know what to do!!

The choice to use the communiaction and coordination mechanics provided by the game engine should not be punished IMHO - but it IS punished as you cannot exploit the squad system to it's full extent then.

First off EA stated the squad leader creation was to remedy previous problems with spawn camping in the previous BF series games, not as a new tool to get your entire team to a point on the map and keep them going there.

Presently the Arcade style players pretty much owned the Public server world beause honestly (and I am a realism player) realism players rarely can beat arcade style players because it's like fighting with one hand tied behind your back when your playing by rules and your opponant isn't. but it has been changing as many ranked servers have realism rules (yes they are legal) and the realism communities are growing daily.

So arcade players when you arrive on a server that has realism rules don't whine just play by the rules or go elsewhere, realism players also shouldn't whine on arcade style servers you should play by their lack of rules or just go somewhere else.

What needs to happen is both communities need to respect each other for their difference and just play by each others rules or seperatly.

Battlefield games have never ever been designed on realism. You just have to watch the video interviews form last year to understand it was going to be released as an arcade style game.

If you want realism ask EA to release a ranked realism expansion the same way they released special forces.

Stop balming the arcade game players for your disapointment in the game

I don't want a whole new mod. I don't want the squad system removed. I just want an option to adjust the way it works a little bit.

I don't want 100% realism, so counting "unrealistic" features won't make a point here. I think wing walking and stuff like that is fun, I don't care if somebody does it as you don't gain such a big advantage by doing it. But squadjumping stands out as it is VERY powerful and changes the whole way the game is played.

I did never blame anyone for squadcycling! In clanwars, I do it myself to be competetive (and feel quite stupid while doing it, but I have no option). On public servers I don't do it as I don't want to gain an unfair advantage by exploiting the squadsystem in a way that people randomly meeting on the Battlefield via VoIP cannot do.

I blame DICE for not fixing this bug, and instead of posting a little story like "Well we knew about this bug, but it didn't get fixed, so it stayed." the dev should have said something about the dev's point of view on this and how the chances are for a serverside option to come.

Or are you afraid that so many servers will adapt such a new option so that you wouldn't find any "squadhoppers" server any more?

My opinion is that the game has already been nurfed enough from day 1 and its time to stop blaming the game or the engine and take a long hard look at yourselves...

Instead of screaming for nurf after nurf

If they give the option you want for this, then fine, it wont really bother me that much but what is next on the Nurf list.

Soon people will be shouting for commander to be removed and Anti tank that kills armour in 1 hit

I mean for gods sake we already have a petition on BF2RS that wants to turn this game into Counterstrike...

                            *Points to infantry only debate*

At the current rate of change, by the end of next year we will only be able to spawn 1 time per round

I've played matches and lost against clans who want it removed too, and I've played and won against clans who actually like squadhopping.

You won't make a point by writing that this is a "n00b vs pro" debate.

Well that was funny in BF1942, still in BF2 nobody does it because

                              1) It's much harder to stay on the wings than it was in BF1942
                              2) You have the brandnew "squad teleportation system" now - why bother with wing walking?

So it isn't completely usless in BF1942 (as it is in BF2 now), still it isn't nearly as powerful as squadhopping is in BF2.

                              @Inc|LoKi:
Removing the commander would be absolutely horrible - you couldn't even detect these stupid sneaking back-flag cappers by scan and UAV, making the whole situation even worse....
And Battlefield without vehicles would never ever be Battlefield anymore!

However, it remains true. Dice didn't intend players to be able to squad hop as part of the game play. The fact that you can is a matter of design oversight.

On the flipside, by your argument (if it's in the game, it's legit) then using terrain glitches is also perfectly acceptable.
Sorry, no cookie for you, you're smart enough to know that's not even close to what I meant.

Here is another point of fact. You know an organized squad is going to bomb a flag right? So how about playing like you should and.....defend? Oh no, then you couldn't run out to the fray and get your points. It's so funny to see people talk about, "oh this exploit" and that "n00b tactic" yet 90% of the players don't even play the game as they are preaching. On our server we don't even worry about squad hoppers, old tactic, we expect it and do our best to recover the flags and remove the squad if we can, when they do, but more often we have a commander that spots them making their attempt and stop it in it's tracks. All the bitchers and moaners have changed the game enough, stop crying to DICE to make up for your own inadequecies.

And if they didn't intend to use it as a means for a squad to be able to stick together why on earth did they make the squad leader a mobile spawn point? And why haven't they addressed it, as they di with the other game play mechanics everyone cried their little eyes out about? Simple fact is like I said before, when a squadleader dies, next man in line assumes his position, becoming the squadleader, "squad hopping" is closer to reality than many other things in this game.
