Disabling the squad screen while dead wouldn't be the best answer, either. Then you would have to pick your spawn point while you're trying to run and stay alive. Disabling the "leave" and "join" buttons would make more sense.
I switch squads for multiple reasons.
Sometimes one squad needs an engineer to help fix their equipment, and they're across the map. I'll pick to spawn engineer on them, and when I die next I get there. Other times, I'll die and read that people are getting punked by tanks. I'll spawn AT on their SL. I try to be where I can help most. Other times I'll just be a sniping squad leader, and keep pressure on a point by giving my squad a place to start from without hoofing it across the battlefield.
I never sneak in and then have an entire squad form on me, but sometimes I'll be the last one alive in my squad. I'll hide just outside the cap radius, and have my squad reform on me. Makes more sense than trying to take the flag by myself, when I have reinforcements coming in 15 seconds.
