its part of the game!get used to it.
theres so many threads in the forums just lately of people constantly crying of unfairness just play the game or dont play the game,
its about time people stopped cryin over petty little things if other peoples tactics upset people this much then they should be playing the game in single player option instead of going for it in multiplayer mode an upsetting them little selfs.

Yes it's lame and no you aren't going to find much sympathy here because a lot of these numbnuts do it on a regular basis.

It's so hard to find good people who will just play an online game straight up these days - no lame tactics or cheeseball exploits. Most people are interested in winning by any means necessary.

lol "winning by any means nessesary"... Uh yeah, within the constraints of the game. Don't use cheats, etc. However, the squad functions were put in there by EA/Dice, and use (or abuse as you call it) is critical in winning a clanmatch.

Like I said before, it puts a new dynamic into the game, where 1 guy can turn into 5 on a moments notice - it requires you to pay attention to every person on the map - to how many are dead / etc... It ADDS to the game, not takes away from it.

Maybe its a little too much thinking for you and your brain hurts from all the possibilities -- might I suggest something easier, Minesweeper or Solitare come free with WinXp, though there's no real base for competitive on-line play.

If you were supposed to spawn on any player on the map then it would have been coded like that in the first place. It's pretty obvious to anyone with the slightest bit of common sense.

The strategic element is keeping the SL alive and protected so the mobile spawn point is available for use. By abusing squad jumping, this is dumbed down so it doesn't matter if the SL lives or dies because you just make a new squad and voila, there you go. It's funny you tell me to play minesweeper since in reality squadjumping = easymode for people who can't keep their SLs alive.

              Well said.

I hate it personally, since I prefer a distinct SL role which lasts for the entire round. There are many advantages to SL jumping, but some of us prefer established roles within squads and this does not involve gaming the game.

Seeking a more 'realistic' style of gaming does not make you a noob, nor does it mean you are any less skilled than someone who exploits every element of the game engine to get ahead.

I don't see why a game can't be just as competitive if certain limits are imposed. Sports are constantly adding and adjusting rules to facilitate fair play and to plug loopholes. Why not competitive computer games?

I feel that this feature requires people to work together. I was playing the new Euro Map, Great Wall the other night. This one squad of 4 clan members was running around terrorizing the people on my side. I was the only one who realized what they were doing, so I set out to at least discourage them.

Quite often, I would kill 1-3 of them (did all 4 maybe twice), but with good teamwork, good meds, good use of squad leader tactics, they rolled all over the map. However, at the end of the round, guess who went home with the gold? Me! They could have trounced everyone and gotten the top 4 scores, but because they were being paid attention to, they didn't.

You have to pay attention to singles because they can turn into 6 guys in a matter of seconds! Knowing this ahead of time, you should be prepared for it and always look around where a squad leader could be hiding. Get in contact with your commander to spot him for you.

Work together with your guys or make it your singlemost priority to eliminate them. Otherwise, you will continue to be rolled over by this in-game feature you so greatly dispise.

                  Yeah thats what i mean.

And still some people dont seem to understand what i mean when i say "abused", 70 % of the game is for christ sake all about squadjumping. 70% of the talk on ventrilo is about it, everything is about it. A clan that doesnt use it cant win. And I cant see how people defend this, or find it "dynamic", because its just plain stupid.

I don't think you really understand what squadjumping means. The OP is not talking about 1 turning into 6, that's just a regular squad. He is talking about 1 turning into an entire team via squadjumping.

All i got to say is its part of the game, LoL And my clan pratcices alot of sqaud hopping. And if it is an exploit why would we be able to spawn on the SL? And someone said thats how squads arent suppose to work? Well if you put it that way, soldiers cant jump 5 feet in the air, Helo cant be piloted and gunned at the same time, UAV's dont appear from thin air, A claymore cannot distinquish the enemy from a friendly, an AT mine cant distinquish a friendly vehicle from a enemy vehicle, an engineer cannot repair bridges and tanks with just a wrench, a soldier cannot get full health from a little bag, and the list goes on......
So just face it, bf2 was not meant to be realistic.:)

                        Re: Squadjumping is too abused

I'm getting really tired of the NON squad hopping fans constantly complaining about those that do use it, just because they refuse to, and then labelling it an "exploit". Enough already. It's a valid tactic available in the game. I am a fan of it, and I do use it when necessary. Why shouldn't I be able to switch to another squad and spawn anywhere on the battlefield, the same as I can spawn on any flag we own. It's especially effective for me when the squad I'm in decides to play defense when I really want to attack.

As for you NON fans, I really hate the grenade spamming that's been going on lately. I'm also not a big fan of the claymore wars or the armour that sits facing down an alley killing everything that spawns, or the commanders that do nothing but drop artillery on the most populated areas instead of watching where there team is attacking. But, they are all available to the game and they're all valid tactics no matter how cheap any of us consider them to be.

Yet again I say.................SHUT UP AND PLAY!

Give me some proof that it is not, instead of coming and saying so. I'll be glad to post the CAL and TWL rules that say nothing about it. The rules do not say that it is a restricted activity. Until they do it is legit.

Demize admitted that this is not the way squads were supposed to work. I'm not gonna dig up the quote again, but he stated in no uncertain terms that the squad system was not ment to give you an infinant spawn location.
According to gamespy magazine, the role of a squadleader is to give you a "forward spawnpoint". Quotes do not mean sh!t to anyone, people play the game any way they see fit. If you want to have a say in the way I play it, I'll send you my internet bill every month and you can reimburse me for my game.

What do we call a game mechanic that wasn't intended to be used a certain way, but if you do you can get an advantage?
I believe the word is, infact, "exploit".
True, but but you left out the part about that action not being readily available to everyone. If it is available to everyone in the game, how can it be an exploit? Just because one squad uses it and another doesn't? By that brilliant logic, tanks and APC/s and Jets and Helos are all exploits. Not everyone can use then and they give the drivers and pilots a very distinct advantage. Instead of trying to stupify the game any more than it is, why not make suggestions for improvement yourself?

I feel that squad hopping can and does errode the strategic and tactical movement of the game. Getting from point A to point B is part of game play and when you can just magicly pop around the map to whereever, it's perty weak. I prefer the SL to be the heart of the squad... where he is, is where the squad is. If he dies (and there's no medic there to put him back on his feet) then the squad dies and has to work it's way back to whereever. Thus, it ramps up the importance of the role and makes a specifc skill set important to being able to preform that role well.

Hopping also hinders coheasion. The best squads I've been in are stable one where there's no hopping or cycling going on. Instead, we've got a good SL who isn't above running and hiding when he needs to, good communications going, and teammates that are aware of and work with the whole squad. When you start hopping or cycling, you break that down.
Im not sure I understand this. If a squad is pushing for a flag and the squadleader dies, the next person up should become the squad leader so as to not lose your position. I cannot see that this is unfair in anyway. In fact, this appears to make the squad have increased cohesion because they are focused on one point and are acting in such a manner so they capture that point.

By only alowing you to have access to the squad functions (sorry, I think I said spawn functions before... I ment SQUAD function) when you are alive, you ramp up the importance of playing smart and mitigate just playing fast. That appeals to me as a player. If I was all about the fast play, I'd play something faster... like UT or Quake.
You cannot dictate how people should play, you can only suggest. Dont start with the who "that is an exploit because I never have the chance to use it" BS please. If people played smart, they would have never needed to nerf the mines and claymores pal. Looks like your point is falling fast.

Now, since I'm a 2 sides of the coin sorta guy, here's an alternate system tweak you hoppers might like better. Maybe on death the SL role should pass to the next living squad member in line. This would make the whole cycling thing "legit" and allow everyone to play on a balanced field.
This is what alrady happens, except it is a manual change rather than automatically dictated by the game itself. Do you really believe that things have to be automatic for them to be legitimate? I would say follow your own advice and even take it a step further, leave the thinking to those of us that can do it successfully.

Is THAT what he was REALLY saying?! The way I read it didn't seem like it. But, if that's the case, I guess I can see how that could be a problem. So basically lets say a squad of 6 go to the Factory on Karkand. Only one makes it. Those 6 spawn on him then jump squad and make squads of their own. Everyone else then jumps on those new SL's.

                              Did I get that correct?

That's pretty much the extreme case. It's not likely to happen on pub servers but like a couple people have mentioned, their clans actually practice this routine.
