exactly. Why do people think they are offending someone by calling them a newbie? they were a newbie at some stage. Its like a 30 year old taking the **** out of a teenager for being a teenager. FOR GOD SAKE!
Everytime someone kills someone in a odd/different way, they get called a noob! Its like "Oh my god you got a headshot with a pistol you nOOB".
CONCLUSION:
Anyone who calls someone a noob is a noob themselves because they cant take it that they got killed in a odd way. ITS ONLY A GAME! ITS NOT.
If someone kills me in a weird way i say "lol. nice one. i wudnt of thought of that" or something along those lines. Why cant you just take it and get in with life?!

fires a grenade launcher at his feet trying to kill someone instead of using bullets
plays karkand 24/7 all the time
whines about planes whilst making no effort to stop them

someone who gets a good shot on someone else, like a pistol headshot is not a n00b

I still use the word noob the way it's meant to be used.

To me, a noob is not simply a new player, it's a new player who shows absolutely zero willingness to learn, and is completely oblivious to the way his lack of skills are affecting other people in the server.

Prime example, if you don't know how to use the TV missile, but you still INSIST on using the chopper, then you are a noob and should be killed.

On the other hand, if you have no idea how to use the TV missile, but the pilot tells you what to do, and you actually listen to him, and ask questions, then you are not a noob, you are just a beginner. There is a big difference to me.

I can't STAND noobs, because they are just plain stupid people. But I love beginners, because they are the future :)

While I like the intention of your post, I have to disagree with you. The term noob, newbie nube, all had their beginnings as an easy way to describe a new player. The original intention for many gaming boards was to lable certain games or servers as those dedicated to neophytes of the game. A place where they could learn and ask questions. The term has evolved in many forums and amongst many more advanced players into one of a more derogatory insult. Your present day distinction did bring a tear to my eye, however.:cry:

ahh yes, but i tend to class those as beginner n00bs, they can be annoying, but theyre not so bad. most of them learn and turn out to be decent players. however some will turn into the whiney skilless type that frequent servers moaning about how someone killed them and forums with their nerfing posts.

OMG you noobs!!! I always get a chuckle out of this term. Who cares what someone says in an online game?? Wanna call me a noob? Go right ahead! Your not hurting my feelings any!!!! If anything I am smiling and laughing cause I made you frustrated in a video game to make a comment!!! HAHAHA!!!

I personally like calling people llamas instead. I havent heard that one used in awhile. Or how about a mOmO!! Havent heard that one in awhile either oh and by the way All your base are belong to us!! Going way back there!!! Anyone else remember these?

I'm new to Battlefield 2. I have therefore been seeking advice in another thread as to how to NOT annoy experienced players and also on the best ways to improve my skills and better my gaming experience.

The term noob these days is a derogatory one and when made in a serious manner is usually done by a gamer who has some growing up to do.

Having started my gaming experience playing the likes of Pong, Breakout, Pac Man and Space Invaders, I'd say I'm likely to have been gaming since before half the "noob shouters" were an itch in their daddy's pants.

Therefore, a noob I may be for now, but I'll learn the tricks of the game in time and continue to gain experience in this, my 26th year of gaming.
