Its true that having a problem is totally frustrating, but I agree, dont bother ranting about it. If there is a significant group of people having this issue try to narrow down common factors, if you can determine what is actually causing it then you can inform the BF2 team and they will fix it. I have had every error under the sun but I have BF2 running real smooth now. I have upgraded hardware, reinstalled software, I have done it all. I get mad as anyone but the truth is there are tens of thousands playing and I WANT a game that pushes my system...
-I have a new, clean install of XP running
-I deleted my collection of patches and downloaded the full patch 1.21 for the re-install
-I dont run all high settings even though I probably could at my resolution
GA-K8NSC-939 (SATA raid setup next step with this i think)
AMD64 3200
7800GS AGP (was for my old MB but didnt work so I got new board to fit it!)
1GB OCZ 3.3.3.8 (not the fastest, but soon to be 2GB dual channel)
Audigy 2 (of course)
Settings all medium at 1024x768 with 2x AA
(I dont know how anyone can play without AA, unless you can run 1600x1200 or some other insane resolution)
Nice one Mr. Moderator Man... I'm assuming you were referring to me. It's nice to see they put their trust in you and you use it to belittle folks trying to get solutions. I bet you make them proud.
I am sorry for whatever your issues are skid, but this thread is here to help bigbossmatt. For some reason you don't want us to try and help him. You feel that we should stop trying to help people and sit here and complain and say EA sucks.
If it bothers you so much that people are trying to help someone, maybe you should stop reading the support forums, because that is what they are here for.
We will continue to try and get people's BF2 working. Telling us to stop is ludicrous.
I just put on speed fan and played bf2 for ages, when this laggy freeze problem occured, ie now, i alt+tabbed out and looked at the graph and saw that it was stil at 50 like before, when playing bf2 normally (when the error doesn't occur.
So yeh, any guesses at the problem?
I dont think over heating is the problem. From the sounds of it, it is RAM and page file related. The next time you play and start to experience lag, alt tab out of the game and then hit ctrl+alt+del and go to the proccess tab and look for BF2.exe and make note of the Mem Usage. With two gigs of ram you would think it would be ok but most likely BF2 is consuming more and more ram and not returing it when it is no longer needed. Do you know what your windows page file is set at? When you get laggy do you notice if you have a lot of hard drive activity? I have 1gig of ram and BF2.exe will often be as high as 850,000K mem usage (850MB)
