    "grainy" long range sniping

is there any way to fix that... thing i guess, where when your sniping longish range when you just CANT line up the headshot, and you have to move a bit so you can get it? its really annoying.

        what u mean?
the max you can see is about 300-400 meters and even the the delay and bullet drop would be extreme

i wish you could see farther and i wish sniping would have a bullet cam like in sniper elite so you know how much your missing by at that range

You should have some sort of range finder, and you should also be able to set you elevation, so that when you have someone in your sights you know you will hit them.

Both the scope and the power of the rifles have been "nerfed" on most of the BF2 srs the mag of the real scopes are on average X10.
At the max you can see 400m, that should be an easy shot for ANY sniper regardless if he has an svd, M24 or .50. A range finder only lets the sniper know what to set his scope to, A few games(mostly delta force series) have been doing this for years(and I might note that, they also had 1 shot kill rifles as well)

Ive found sniping at say 250~300Ms really hard, you move the mouse and it travels a few pixels, hard to line the HS's up.

                        Re: "grainy" long range sniping

Oh boy, you new guys crack me up.
First, its a lot easier than it used to be to snipe at long range. The "trick" is to set your cross hairs as close as you can with your mouse (course adjustment) then move your body left or right to tune it in (fine adjustment).
Im glad you cant shoot all the way across a map, it makes you have to actually move sometimes. If you could do that there would be no point to using any other kit, would there. Also you dont need to know the distance, it doesnt matter. The bullet drop is so small (I tested this on Wake Island) it just doesnt matter. At that great a distance, in this game (remember where you are, in a game), most targets are gonna require 2 shots anyway (I shoot people on a regular basis from USMC arty on Wake to the north and south beaches past the bunkers).
I have about 50% accuracy rate with the sniper rifles that means If I shoot you, you are probably gonna get hit. Even at long range. Most shots arent going to be that easy because the smarter players never stop moving. This is the main reason I always try for 2 shot kills except on rare occaisions. When you first start sniping on a regular basis a 2 shot kill (body shot) is the best to try for. That way you can at least get a one point kill assist for everyone you shoot. I hope this helps you guys. . . . . . . . .Red

I know I have just started posting, but I have been looking/ reading on here for a while now.'

My accuracy is 49% with the sniper kit, I know how to use it fairly well. The trouble is, latley I have had a number of "should be" kills, in the sense that I am roughly 50m away, Headshot, puff of smoke from the guys head, and no kill. I have unloaded a full .50 clip into someone just to have the kill me with one shot(I was aining for the middle mass) It is just frudtrating sometimes.

                          Gerry.

I have over 50hours in on sniper and a 55% accuracy, So you have to shuffle a little to line a shot up I think it is fine as it is.

                              Re: "grainy" long range sniping

I'll have to disagree Redrider, there is a lot of bullet drop to take into account, on Wake i was shooting chinese snipers in the airfield bunker from the bottom base on the right, i got 3 headshots in a row at 378m aiming a full body length above the target.

From what i have found you only have to take bullet drop (Gravity) into consideration if the target is further than approx 250m at that distance add quarter to half a body length above the target and you should see your hits increase.

To clarify a body length equates to the targets body you are viewing through the scope.
