I bounce between it and the pkm when I play support, both have distinct advantages... I do like the sound (quieter) of the mg36 over the pkm, and running around with it looks hotter than that m60 looking pkm

THe MG36 has better ironsights imo (just like all the G36 series guns, as well as the G3), also, the MG36 is more accurate than the PKM if ur firing full auto for the first 24 bullets, equally as accurate at the 25th bullet, and then less accurate afterwards. WHich gives it an advantage if u can aim well. Also, it doesn't have that huge PKM givaway sound, cause the MG36 sounds like any G36 series gun, so u don't know if it's a G36K (if ur playing as SAS), G36E, or G36C.

I think I am going to unlock this first, or the L85A1, meh .
I think this would be fun though. Aand i find myself using the support kit more and more. But yeah put aside the PKM, I think this is a different gun, and the burst fire is rad.

I have a huge PKM vs MG36 thread if you search. It's pre 1.2 but everything still holds true except the accuracy since they are both more accurate now. There's a lot of reasons the MG36 is better.

The PKM only gets 12.5% more inaccuracy per second. It also does 12.5% more DAMAGE per second. At long ranges, you're going to be firing shot-by-shot anyway, and killing in significantly fewer shots gives your target less time to react and makes your position harder to trace.

It's very slightly better at mowing down close targets, but for distance the PKM is far superior. Reason being it has the same recoil, but does more per shot and has a lower ROF so it'll do about 50% more damage if you're firing shot-by-shot.

It also means the PKM is more accurate in full auto, because the lower ROF ramps up inaccuracy more slowly.

Ya, i gotta agree, i used to be a great MG36 fan before 1.2 patch, but now i just don't play BF2 period, i still have a HUGE BANK of info on BF2 that's left, so i still come here. THat's one of the reasons i don't play no more, i was an AVID support player pre-1.2 patch, now everybody uses suport, and u can't get many ammo points. I used to be one of the great support players (when i had my MG36), now everybody can be a 'great' support. Now i go back to playing Americas Army lol.

It's better than the PKM in the sense that it can fire faster. The PKM is better for distance or mowing down unsuspecting soldiers. The PKM in a 1-1 isn't always good because it fires slow and another soldier may have a faster firing weapon. I've beat the PKM with an MG many times.

It also has less damaging bullets, they do only 30 damage, so it takes them 4 hits to kill, the PKM takes 3 hits to kill, at close range, since their rate of fire is different, technically, neither wins, they both take the same amount of time to deliver that last, killing bullet.
