When I bought BF2 I got what I expected; an arcade style combined arms, and team orientated strategy shooter.
When a similar product that advertises itself as a simulation comes along, I'll probably buy that to...
I honestly think the whiners here didn't read the box, previews or reviews when buying BF2.

The game site has changed a bit over patches but things like this:

"An all-new game engine and physics system brings the modern battlefield to life like never before. The new material penetration feature measures weapons’ ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive."

made me think it was more than what it was. Cover and concealment? Half the people in this game have no idea what these are or what they mean.

it's the arcade fun military game i bought in July - no complaints here
i have Armed Assault as my realism fix (hint the game i am constantly bombarding you guys with in my sig :P) and Ghost recon Advanced Warfighter is coming in May as well - happy days

cos theres **** all places to hide? not to mention the commanders scanner.

I agree with zipp0r. Yes, you can hide, but it will only last so long. A scan or UAV from a commander makes your hiding spot non-existant.

The real fun is listening to people say that things like the support gun should be more accurate yadda yadda yadda... but in the same breath turn around and say that a minigun on a chopper shouldnt be able to kill them so fast - even though it can punch 2,500 holes through sheetmetal in less than a minute...

Maybe i played SWAT3 to long in Co-Op mode

But arcade style once in a while is nice too

BF games have never been about realism. Anyone that wants realism in a BF game should play something else or wait for mods. BF games are about fun...and that is the way I would like it to stay. That doesn't mean though I want cartoon characters running around and when you pull the trigger a "bang" flag pops out

I want guns to be equally powerful. So i would stand a chance with a MP5 against a m16 from 50m metres or smthing. Dunno the exact weapons names ;D

If the onfoot combat would be something like in Americas Army, then i would play this game 24/7. But atm i cant stand playing this game for more than 2h a day.

And whoever invented the cone of fire should be shot

But luckly Armed Assault is comin so i wont have to stick to bf2 anymore.

If you want more reality you might want to check out Red Orchestra: Ostfront; it's being distributed through steam and originated as a UT mod. It's a WW2 shooter based on the Eastern Front it is very faithful to historical accuracy and combat realism.
