Ok i nearly have the same system exept ihave an intel p4 3.2ghz- i used to be able to do all high 4x aa. Nowa days i have most on high, some mediem and 2xaa. I have been getting extremely anoyed with this. Im gonna try all of those tips. Now my card has been getting hot so i baught a pci fan and a few other fans to put in. im going to later today and we will see if it helps atall.



Umm... i cant seem to see any 6800gt in that list. is that a problem? now you do have agp cards correct? because my 68 is agp.

RIght, i have a abit is7-e mobo, ill try to find some drivers for it. As of now i dont think i have any instaled. as i just reinstalled windows last week.

Ok..I'm betting that is it then. I don't know what chipset that board uses, otherwise I'm sure I could find the drivers for you easy.

Hmm...looked it up. Looks like intel:

Ok, I have installed a fresh windows in another partrition. I installed DX9, and some drivers... Experience: I used the same settings as Talus (almost all high, 2AA, Vsync off) and I had the very same (80-40fps) performance... WOW thats great, so my problem has tohing to do with audio/video drivers and BF2 patches...
The bad thing is that I did not install any firewall or anti-virus program so my windows was attacked by 1.000.000 different spywares adwares... hell what wrong, I tried deleting windows messanger and internet explorer but I couldnt... Can anyone tell me how to do that? And what firewall/antivirus program should I use? I have now ZoneAlarm and NortonAV. And I use Spybot too...

Well, I don't use a firewall or antivirus and my system is clean (I do a full system scan every so often with http://housecall.trendmicro.com )

Where are you seeing all of these 'attacks'? It could just be regular traffic.

All you need is a good router.

I didnt even knwo that I have internet connection, cus I thought I should 'make a new connection' after a fresh install of winXP. No it set it upp byitself without questions and when I installed my X-Fi driver it opend an Internet Explorer page... and than The pages started to open automaticly one after another and it added some new shortcuts to my desktop (like "free music", "go on a vacation") and on my second restart a program called "You are good to go" was asking for permission to install itself. WTF?!?!?!!!!
Whats a proper router like? Is a it a modem or what?

Holy crud...you must have run something early on in the installation that contained spyware.

Some driver or utility...try and remember all of the files you ran after Windows install and run a spyware scan on those.

The reason I don't use a firewall/anti-virus/anti-spyware is that I am VERY careful and picky and what I download and where I download it from (also, using Firefox helps). I also read EVERY install instruction for the programs I install...some will admit to installing spyware.

Some applications that you feel are benign can actually contain spyware (e.g. Daemon Tools 4.0 now contains spyware).

The problems you are describing are not attacks..if you leave your PC on and attached to the internet, you will not automatically get these things..you HAD to install them yourself along with something else.

I would be willing to bet just about anything that your XP cd is pre-Sp2. Reason for saying that is that in Sp2 the Windows firewall is on by default, and in anything pre-Sp2, off by default. And while the Windows firewall isn't the best, it is more than sufficient enough to stop you from getting infected from in-the-wild viruses/trojans; which as been proven to happen on an unpatched/unprotected computer in less than 20 minutes.

The problems you are describing are not attacks..if you leave your PC on and attached to the internet, you will not automatically get these things..you HAD to install them yourself along with something else.

Well I have a different solution here: I have 2 partritions. In first one I use as a common win, play video, music, download stuff, search the web. etc... the other one is super clear only for programs that need high performance. Making it this way my BF2 runs superb even with VSync on, and I wont have to worrie about that it will slow down sometime...

ps.: I have installed Daemon tool 4.xx I hope it wont kill my comp:cry: should I roll it back to 3.47?

AMD XP 2500+ @ 3200+
6800GT 256MB (AGP)
2Gigs RAM
200GB SATA

I want to run the game at 1280*1024 res. 2AA high texture filtering, and VSync on.

I have tryed many drivers and many setting, but it doesnt make much difference if I turn shadows to low or medium or anything else, cus when I'm in crowd I got 20fps and thats crap from a 6800GT ... donno what to do pls help

I have a similar setup:
AMD 64 3200+ @2.4GHZ
6800GT @ 401/1.1
2GB RAM
80GB IDE HD.

Nvidia 81.98 drivers.
I play at 1280x1024@72hz and get frames at 50-100fps with settings high except dynamic shadows=medium and dynamic light=medium. 2xAA and 100% view distance.

Make sure in your motherboard BIOS, you set the AGP aperture to 256mb.
Download and install DH Driver Cleaner Pro.
Uninstall your Nvidia drivers via the Windows control panel Add/Remove programs applet. Reboot in Safe Mode, run Driver Cleaner, reboot into normal Windows and install the latest Nvidia drivers.
Download Coobits and install it. Coolbits adds extra options to your display properties, including over clocking. Go into your display properties and set your card Core Clock Frequency to 400.
In your Performance settings, move the System Performance slider to "Performance", set anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering to "application controlled". Don't touch any of the other performance settings, including VSync, leave it off, it's a major performance killer.

Regarding general windows security. If you wish to keep using free software, carry on with Zone Alarm, but uninstall NortonAV and use AVG Anti Virus 7.1, it catches much more, updates more frequently and uses for less system resources than Norton AV.

Uninstall DT4.0 and re-install DT4.03 and MAKE SURE you de-select Daemon Search Bar or whatever it is called during installation....that is the spyware part and you have the option of not installing it.
