I haven't been dazzled with EF, either.

I am still going to give it a bit more time before I pass final judgment, but my initial impressions were not very positive, for most of the reasons mentioned. Such as:
    - Too much vehicle (armor) combat compared to everything else
    - Required reliance on vehicles to get anywhere
    - All flags (except 1-2 on Great Wall) are accessible and capturable by tanks, meaning that players have to use AT or Spec Ops to defend
    - Only 1/3 maps have any infantry fighting

Re: EF, some good, mostly bad .

Im largly dissapointed so far but i havent played enough as yet.
Great wall looks like it could be fun but aint got that far yet.
That copter is insane, how is such a curious feature ever allowed into a release, hardly likely to entice any new comers when those of us who have spent more than two days straight in the vanilla ones cant get them off the floor, possibly Dice humour but i dont see as funny. I do like that the copter is different and apart from that it seems a nice new challenge to learn its flying style, rather than stepping into an AH clone.

Tanks wars whilst being carpet bombed is certainly an interesting idea but i do feel they havent considered those of us that diddnt get in a tank. You can only play AT if you go flag capping, either that or you are left up sh*t creek without a paddle- You know the first thing to arrive to defend a flag will be a convoy of half a dozen tanks,.. The planes really dont fit in with the ground and i would say they are not needed, i found a tank battle was constantly interupted by tear drops from heaven which made me frustrated, let me shoot the tank!

It does need more playing and i dont mind the blatent advantage i get for the 400 hour tank time it can give me but i do wiish they had haddnt spoilt the runway tk'ers by providing more vehicles than is reasonable on what are 32 player maps. I hate those that kill for vehicles but it does seem the wrong solution.

LOL, man, Had the same thing, went for the chopper, other two guys got in, he wanted to lift of, chopper rolled over and crashed, I was like "OMFG, that guy needs some lessons in a chopper" , second chopper spawns, I get in, want to lift of, roll over and crash, big joke .

Once the chopper is airborn it's prety good, there is something strange about the control of it, sometimes, it reacts very fast, and sometimes it just won't pull up anymore
Ya sure its ok once you finally make it off the ground. But like 50 feet from the base as you fly off it seems your almost SURROUNDED by enemy anti-air batteries. As soon as I took off about 5 secs later.........BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.
It seemed like 10 freakin anti-air batteries locked onto us and started firing surface to air missiles on us. So its like impossible to lift off and once you do......5 secs later your dead. What the hell dice?
hmmm I wonder..........ya think the guys that was watching us take off and laughing were DICE people having a good laugh at our expense?

About the air power, its extremely hard to dominate the ground in any of the two maps. There is too much counters i.e other jets, linebackers, emplacements, smoke(OSS map), and the Eurofighter isnt good at attacking ground units. Unless you have a bomber who isnt attacked by opposing teams fighter/bomber, then the airpower never dominates a map unlike the maps in vanilla BF2.

            First the good things offcourse

            - graphics seem to be very nice, some maps give stunning views
            - weapons as Famas and Support weapon are very good
            - maps seem to have good balance
            - doesn't seem to have many bugs, or extra bugs

            Now the bad points

            - I remember the comunity aking and liking city maps, more infantry based, more action going on, not to big, EF is the complete opposite, very big map, extremely a lot of armor and planes, very boring, no action points
            - as infantry you spend 90% of the time walking and running to somewhere
            - comunity dislikes the overpowering jets, but still they give u two of the three maps with jets, and mostly open space so jets can take everything out easely
            - due to the big maps, there is some lag
            - we have no real 64 player maps

            conclusion, euro forces has failed,
I realy don't understand it, they said two booster packs, one infantry wich is euro forces, and one vehicle based, beeing armored fury.
As it seems, euro forces is amost completely vehicle based, even more vehicle based then any map we ever seen at this point .
I wunder what armored fury wil be, 32 players, 50 tanks on each team, 20 jets on each team, .........

If the comunity asks for more infantry based maps, when the infantry based maps are played the most, when the most popular map (karkand) is the only map on half of the servers, why do they make something completely opposite ?

result : about 75 % of the people who purchased EF aren't happy with it .
-Where is it that the community asked for more infantry based maps? I do not remember reading about that at any point, ever. If the community DID in fact ask for infantry based maps, what then would SF be?

-Instead of complaining about the maps not being what you want, try playing custom maps, on unranked servers. That is if you aren't too obsessed with stats.

-75% is unhappy? Hmmm, sweeping generalization wouldn't you agree? Where are you getting this "information" from anyway? Where exactly did they say that EF would be "infantry based"? I do not remember seeing this, again.

Re: EF, some good, mostly bad .

I believe a significant proportion of the community wanted DC and BF42's way of play (mass vehicle battle), and they got it.

Personally I am very happy. If I want infantry battle, I can go play SF.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Only problem is EA/DICE aren't going to do any support for SF anymore. The game has plenty of bugs and it seems some have gotten worse since last ptach

Re: EF, some good, mostly bad .

I am a Karkand and Sharqi fan myself. But i also like the Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen maps of EF.... These two EF maps are truely battlefields; where maps like Karkand and Sharqi are just pieces of a battlefield; small sections of the overall whole... Other maps in vanilla BF2 that i didn't like, such as any map other than Karkand and Sharqi, suffered from being in the awkward middle of the size range. They were maps that were too big for pure urban, but still too small for the vehicles and planes that were sandwiched onto them, so what you had were a big vehicle and jet spam fest, with ground troops stuck in the middle as vehicle fodder, as there were not enough vehicles to go around...

So, i am happy with the EF booster pack. A solid change of pace.. If only EA/Dice made the SF expansion a booster pack so we could mix the pure urban maps on single servers, and add the truely vehicle maps on another server. We could be looking at a really good gaming variety. But, thanks to the SF screw up, we customers are left with an empty feeling... SF needs to be integrated into the overall BF2 game...Give us the flashbangs, grapple hooks and tow lines and weapons, across the whole BF2..

My ideal map would be the size of the Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen maps, with buildings, towns and general urban areas strewn through out the map, and all flags located INSIDE urban areas/ ie buildings, therefore forcing people to be on foot to capture the flag, and in turn forcing all maps to have CQC. What we would have is the best of both world in each map and more more 'Battlefield' atmosphere....

Anyone who thinks that any map sucks that doesn't allow them to spawn right in the middle of the action each and every time, complaining about long walks and travel time whenever they can't spawn into the action, is more than welcome to goto Counter Strike. IMO of course..

U are wrong......It is quite hard to dominate the ground by Euro-Air if the MEC has half decent pilots on thier side. And easier to dominate ground if u are an MEC pilot.....especially since the MEC chopper flies normal and the EU chopper is bug ridden unfeasible nonsense. But just place one slightly better jet pilot on one side and that side WILL have victory cos the the ground forces wont be able to move for getting bombed to fuk.

I still don't get why you would rate a game solely on the fact that other people complain about it (must be my problem then) . People need to stop searching for things that are wrong and look at the things that are right . And by the way i wasn't implying that you still play EF although you did complain about it , it just was the first time i saw someone from tbf2 forums in BF2 :)
