EF says not installed, will not play

I payed for it, downloaded it in 3 hours, installed it, launched bf2.

It says I need to buy it and install it. I have reinstalled and still no go.
I did have to make a new account to download it and it says make sure im using an online account. I am sure my account is online because I play online :hmm: and have up to date stats.

anyone else have this problem?

or better yet, a fix?

Does your bf2 login name exactly match the name you entered in the double gamespy field when you bought it?

If not, or to double check that it does - open the downloader, and on the EF image you should see a text link to change gamespy nickname. Enter your exact bf2 login name there.

i tried the email i made the EA account with and that didnt work either. it is currently my gamespy email

edit: do i have to use the bf2 cd only? i am using the special forces cd atm

Try gamespy name, not email. For example, if my name in bf2 is Shawn, then enter just shawn in that field. Not Shawn@whatever.com

This is just a theory, but I have only ever seen use cases with the name, not email.

EA should've changed the terminology for this part of the purchase form, from Gamespy account to BF2 login name. It would of saved a lot of confusion for some people based on the number of questions about this on many of the forums. :)

Problem Solved!!!
You have to edit you gamespy id in the ea downloader to match you bf2 username. Once thats done you can play. Sweet! :)

I figured it out. Open the EA downloader, go to "edit gamespy nickname" make sure! the 2 names are your "account name that you use to play with" and "not your account email address". I changed it from my account emaill address to ThorsHamburger, and the great wall loaded up.

I can play just fine on my user name but when my son logs into his account he gets the same thing!! so do u have to buy multiple copys for each account u have if so that sucks!!!!
