BlueBunny63, get over it dude.....if you kno what he's reffering to, the word is serving its purpose......if you dont know what he's reffering to, then you wouldnt know what karkand is
i think the idiot is the one who makes an issue of it, and dwells, and complains....and even resorts to insult
I think what it comes down to is that this is a different game than CS. I never really played CS, however, considering it is based on the HL engine I can imagine that it is somewhat like that.
Coming from HL2, I had to learn to slow down. The game play, while at some times very fast and very intense, is slower than half life. And don't, as most people do, burn your speed out trying to get to the fight as fast as possible. Learn the terrain and the best angles to approach things. Unlike with HL, you can't just run straight into a room and rely on your reflexes to take everyone out. Come from the side, flanking people really works well. If you approach a place from an odd direction, eventhough it might take you 3 times as long to run there, once you get there you have a better chance of staying alive for a much longer time. Don't be Rambo. . . it doesn't work.
Crouch, prone and iron sights are your best friends. Learn to love them and learn where it is important to use them. I swear people don't utilize crouching enough. . .especially now that prone has been nerfed, crouching is super effective.
And the advice above about squad work is great. Just having someone there to cover your butt is going to increase your gameplay as this is a team oriented game (as much as those lone wolfs would disagree). I can't tell you how great it is to play sniper and have your friend with you as a medic to revive you when you go down.
others have said the same thing, but i will reiterate...join a squad and support each other. the is no faster way to learn and improve your skills and scores then running with a good squad.
I agree with the other guys saying to squad up and stick with your squadmates. Take a look at what kits they are playing and fill in the gap. If there isn't a medic, then be a medic. If there isn't support (shouldn't be a problem these days) then be support. Same goes for AT. On pubs it seems like there can be tons of lone wolfs (that are not snipers) who aren't in squads. Don't be afraid to start a squad and invite people. Or message your team saying "squad up".
As infantry keep your finger near the crouch button and switch to single shot. You'll be more accurate. Use crouch and prone to take cover when necessary during firefights. Standing up in lines and shooting one another as a tactic is as dead as the dinosaurs. If you're running along and get hit don't stop and say "hmm, someone is shooting at me". Find cover quickly and assess where your enemy is. Then try to outflank them.
Learn the maps. For example, on Karkand don't feel the need to rush the hotel if are USMC. I've seen plenty of times where it seems like the USMC team is blindly set on capturing the hotel while the rest of the map is basically silent. There are ways to get to the back spawn points and pull the action away from the hotel. Like grabbing a hummer and heading back to the suburbs, train or gate. That stops ticket bleed and forces MEC away from the hotel and square. Once you get to that remote spawn and take it, send a message to your team that you need support by spawning there.
-Move slowly
-Make sure one of your flanks is a wall or some other obstruction
-Map the prone key very close to your movement keys, I use F. I never crouch its prone or nothing. You can get away with standing if your using the G36C or G36E.
-Aim for the head, try to train yourself to drag your mouse upward to the head from center mass. Most people will fire into someones stomach at full auto and never move their mouse.
- Fire in bursts
- Quickly identify the enemy, get your iron sights up and fire on target. This is something that just comes in time.
- Take the path less travelled. Flank the enemy.
- Use all the tools your kit has available. Lay mines as an engi, use claymores as a sniper, etc.
-Get the following unlocks asap PKM,G36C,G36E,DAO-12
-Use your radar so you can see the enemy location
- camp if thats your thing
-listen to the sounds around you.
-look around, most people play these games with a tunnel vision approach.
- if you run out of ammo and need to reload, use your pistol or knife to finish someone off, don't underestimate these tools.
That's a few things to get you started, nothing earthshattering.
I bought BF2 today and when I play online I seem to really bad, not sure why.
Before this I played CS 1.6 a lot and became quite good (relatively) so I don't think it's my accuracy that's weighing me down.
When I was crap at CS1.6 I spectated on the top players of whichever server I was on however I cannot seem to find a way to do this on BF2, which is a shame.
Excluding "Just play... loads", is there any other advice you can give which might improve my game.
Also, I can run Gulf of Ozman at 80+ FPS @ 1280x1024 yet only run Kirkland at 55+ FPS @ 1280x1024, is it just me or is Kirkland a more resource-draining map?
Thanks
Tom
PS. If anybody has the IP address for any preferrably UK-based servers which are either designed for newbies or support newbies, please, tell me. :)
In CS 1.6 you are supposed to never go prone, but to move around and stop, pop a shot, stop, pop a shot again.
